'I'm fine.' It repeats constantly in Elijah's head, trying desperately to convince himself that. It felt like he couldn't take all this information at the same time.
'Stay calm Elijah, everyone here is from a crazy family too.' He tried to remind himself.
'Except they weren't experiments' That little voice in his head says and he tries to shake it off.
"Why didn't you go with him?" Emily asks confused. Elijah's thoughts exactly, why is he here while his best friend is off risking his life?
"Kaito and I don't move together unless we're on earth or in Hesperia, it's to protect both our lives, as I said before the Hesperian parliament is not very keen on the rules made by the great council either" he explains "Additionally, I am here working on alternative potions, this way our work is more efficient, and we get more things done"
Suddenly the room disappears from Elijah's sight, and he appears... inside a volcano. watching the lava drip down the rugged cone like walls.
he sees something in the distance and walks towards it.
The man's hands were bound by chains which were on either side of the high walls, he was wrapped in bandages and there was blood over him
"Who are you?" He tries to speak to him "Can you hear me?" The man looks up at him wearily, but it isn't certain that whoever it is saw Elijah all Elijah caught about the man was an elemental tattoo on his collar bone then the scene disappears and he's back in the room in Delarune Starling's workshop.
"You saw Kaito I presume" Elijah's dad calmly concludes; People wonder how Elijah is able to keep his composure 95% of the time? Well, meet his father, Delarune Caelestis Starling, the King of Composure. "That's odd, where was he?"
"I didn't see Kaito" Elijah tells his father "I saw a man, a man I'd never seen before, he was in chains" He answers a little confused, that seems to have gotten his father's attention, but Delarune remained calm nonetheless, King of composure.
"How did he look?" Skai asks.
"Black hair, green eyes, much older than any of our parents." Elijah says. "Then he had this elemental tattoo on his collar bone."
"That's Kaito" Delarune breathes out just as Skai and River say "That's dad"
"Where?" Delarune asks, packing serums and potions into his satchel.
"He was in a Volcano" Elijah tells him "That's all I saw"
"You kids wait here" Delarune says walking towards the door "I'll be back"
"Uhhh, no." Skai stands up. "No way I'm staying here while you go save my dad"
"You're injured kid, you shouldn't even be opining to go on this journey" he shakes his head.
"Excuse me Mr. Starling, but you have no idea what we've been through, so before you come telling my sister what she can and can't do, take that into consideration" River stands up "We're looking for our father as much as you are looking for your friend" By now Seraphinius is wide awake.
"I'm not taking five teenagers and a baby into Widdledoc Volcano" he pierces his eyes through each of theirs.
"I'm not a baby, I'm six!" Phinius argues raising six fingers up at Delarune "Count your facts" he wiggles his fingers.
"We're going and that's final." Elijah tells him looking him in the eye. "You're not in any position to make decisions for us, not after what you've all put us through."
"Son-" Elijah cuts him off
"I said that's final, we're going" he tells his father firmly. Elijah was no longer sure he wanted to stay in Ardeneon anymore, at a point he was considering it going over the then facts that his parents lied to him, that they might not even be his parents so there was no point in going back, It'd only hurt him every time he would look at them knowing the truth but now, he'd rather that than stay in a world where he wasn't accepted.
So, if saving Kaito Ladiston is his best bet to leave there then he was going to go.
Rune sighs giving in, and he leads them to his hanger on the rooftop.
"This is what I like to call an air home" Rune opens the door to a room, smiling with content "Kaito and I built this gem together"
The room is humongous, it didn't even look like it could be a part of the building.
Emily's mind goes back to how they saw the Bolvera house when they first got to Ardeneon and then it all started to make sense, nothing was as it seemed in the world of Ardeneon.
"It's a big bird!" Seraphinius claps excitedly beside Emily.
Mr. Starling pushes a button on the wall next to him and the roof opens. "You kids get in while I set up" he motions towards them. "Just push that button next to the outline of the door and it should open"
They complied with his instructions and walked into the plane, it was pretty normal, giving steam punk as they expected, the gears were evident on the walls of the airplane.
The first room is wide, but the length wasn't so much, there are five seats on each side of the plane, at the back end there are two seats on each side of the door, same with the front.
Skai opts for the back corner because that's where she believed that in any average airplane that's where you feel the adrenaline better when landing, and Dexter sits down next to her, 'Great' She thinks.
She had really been doing her best to avoid him, but the odds weren't in her favor.
Rune walks in "The back door leads to rooms, bathrooms, it is what you would call a miniature home" he tells them before walking through the front door, into the cockpit. "Buckle up kids"
They follow his orders and prepare for departure.
"Skai" Dexter whispers to her but she ignores him, knowing what he wants to talk about.
"Skai" he calls out to her again.
"Don't talk to me" She blurts out, sounding harsher than she intended.
"Did I do something wrong?" he asks to which she ignores. But what she wanted to say was 'No Dexter, you did nothing wrong we just can't work.' She desperately wanted to tell him, but she figured it would be pointless.
"The least you could do is hear me out" he urges, she wanted to she really did but she knew that if she does hear him out, She'll start talking and then she'll make a move on him again, She just can't risk that happening.
"Look Dexter" She turns to face him "Let's just pretend like the kiss never happened" she tells him as they lift off.
As soon as they're in the air, River goes through the back door with Phinius who kept saying he wanted to go in, it was either that or the cockpit.
Skai was a bit disappointed that the air home lifted off rather than took off, it moved too smoothly for her to feel the adrenaline rush she was expecting.
"Pretend it never happened?" Dexter looks at her in disbelief "Why?"
"Let's not talk about it anymore" she looks forward, he stands up from beside her and goes through the back door.
"This is all your fault Skai, you're so stupid" she mutters without even realizing it.
"What's going on?" Emily takes the seat beside her by the walls of the plane and Elijah takes Dexter's spot.
"Did I say that out loud?" she asks.
"Yes, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were going crazy" Elijah chuckles softly "But then again, we always think that" Skai shrugs at that absentmindedly.
"Are you and Dexter fighting?" Emily asks, looking her in the eye.
"Why would we be fighting?" she brushes the question off.
"Skai Ladiston, you're not fooling anyone" Emily shakes her head at her "Well, you may be fooling River though, he'd never find out unless you told him to his face"
"What are you guys talking about?" she asks both of them
"You and Dexter ofcourse" Emily answers. "We're not blind, we see you guys"
"So, you guys are fighting huh?" Elijah chuckles softly.
"We're not fighting" Skai huffs. "We're just giving each other space, okay?"
"Space is just a word made up by someone who is afraid to get too close" Elijah counters. "You of all people know that."
"mhmm" his girlfriend agrees with him "Are you afraid to get too close Skai?"

"You don't get it, I like what me and Dexter have, it's like a brother-sister type of relationship, but of course I had to ruin it." She groans putting her face in her hands "If it doesn't work out then it'll ruin our friendship"

"We get the gist" he clears his throat "You talk concerningly nasty for someone who looks so innocent" he shakes his head before going back to the topic of conversation "But if that is what you want then just go for it...although maybe take it step by step"
"All my life I've just gone for it, and it never ends well, this is Dexter we're talking about here, I'm not making any mistakes with him" she tells him.
