Chapter 11 - The Glitch Within

Light.

Blinding.

Violent.

Kyle felt his entire body tearing apart—

not physically…

but something deeper.

As if his existence itself was being rewritten.

Then—

Silence.

A heartbeat.

Another.

Kyle's eyes snapped open.

He inhaled sharply—

Air filled his lungs again.

Real.

Heavy.

Alive.

He didn't sit up immediately.

This time…

he stayed still.

Listening.

Feeling.

Analyzing.

Voices.

Screams.

Fire.

The world…

was back.

Kyle slowly turned his head.

Shiganshina.

Alive.

Burning.

The Colossal Titan stood beyond the wall.

Steam rising.

The same chaos.

The same destruction.

But Kyle…

was different.

He sat up slowly.

— "So… I'm back."

He looked at his hands.

No injuries.

No pain.

Then—

his eyes narrowed.

Something was wrong.

The system didn't appear.

No interface.

No timer.

No mission.

Nothing.

— "You're quiet…" Kyle whispered.

For the first time since everything started…

The system was gone.

A strange feeling settled in his chest.

Not fear.

Not relief.

Freedom.

But also—

Danger.

A distant scream echoed.

Kyle stood up instantly.

His body moved faster than before.

Sharper.

More precise.

— "Even without it…"

He clenched his fist.

— "…I remember everything."

Memories of every loop.

Every movement.

Every death.

Stored.

Inside him.

A shadow moved above.

Kyle reacted instantly—

dodging a falling piece of debris without thinking.

His eyes widened slightly.

— "I don't need the system anymore…"

Or…

Did he absorb it?

Suddenly—

The air distorted.

Kyle froze.

That presence again.

But different.

He turned slowly.

And saw him.

The conscious Titan.

Standing in the distance.

Watching.

Not attacking.

Not moving.

Just… observing.

Kyle stepped forward.

— "You said… you'd give me the truth."

The Titan tilted its head.

— "You survived."

A pause.

— "Better than expected."

Kyle's voice hardened.

— "Stop playing. Tell me."

Silence.

Then—

The Titan raised its hand.

And pointed…

Not at Kyle.

Behind him.

Kyle's body tensed.

Slowly…

he turned.

And what he saw—

was impossible.

The city…

was still burning.

But above it—

The sky cracked.

Not metaphorically.

Literally.

Like glass.

And behind those cracks…

Something was watching.

Not one presence.

Many.

Endless.

Shapes.

Eyes.

Silhouettes that didn't belong to reality.

Kyle's breath stopped.

— "What… is that…?"

The Titan spoke quietly:

— "Those are the ones who watch."

Kyle felt his chest tighten.

— "The observers…"

— "No."

The Titan's voice deepened.

— "Those are what the observers fear."

Silence.

Kyle's mind froze.

— "Then what the hell are you…?"

The Titan turned its gaze back to him.

— "A mistake… like you."

Before Kyle could respond—

The ground shook violently.

Not from Titans.

From something else.

Something deeper.

The cracks in the sky widened.

And then—

A sound.

Not loud.

But… wrong.

Like reality itself screaming.

Kyle dropped to one knee.

Grabbing his head.

Memories flooded him.

Not his own.

Different lives.

Different deaths.

Different versions of himself.

All overlapping.

All real.

— "What… is happening to me…?!"

The Titan didn't move.

— "You're remembering."

— "Remembering what?!"

A pause.

Then—

— "Every version of you… that failed."

Kyle's eyes widened.

— "No…"

— "You're not on your third attempt."

Silence.

— "You're on your…"

The Titan stopped.

For the first time—

It hesitated.

Kyle's voice dropped to a whisper.

— "Say it."

The Titan looked directly into his eyes.

— "You're on your unknown number."

Everything…

went silent.

Even the chaos.

Even the Titans.

Kyle's mind blanked.

Unknown…?

Then—

The system flickered.

Just for a second.

[ERROR: MEMORY LIMIT EXCEEDED]

Kyle's breath hitched.

— "No way…"

Suddenly—

A hand grabbed his shoulder.

Cold.

Familiar.

Kyle froze.

That touch…

He knew it.

Slowly…

very slowly…

he turned his head.

And his eyes widened.

Standing behind him—

was himself.

But… broken.

Cracked.

Eyes empty.

Smiling.

— "You finally noticed…"

Kyle's voice barely came out:

— "…what the hell are you…?"

The other him leaned closer.

Whispering—

— "I'm what happens…"

A pause.

Smile widening.

— "…when you fail too many times."
