Chapter 114 - Before the Ambush

Seeing the shop owner suddenly greet him with a broad smile, Su Ming inwardly sneered at his change in attitude.

"Yes," he replied. "I'm here for the real stuff. I want the best knife you've got."

"Of course. Please wait a moment."

The owner disappeared into a back room.

About a minute later, he opened the entrance to a hidden underground passage.

"Come with me. You can choose downstairs."

Su Ming followed him.

The underground room was filled with weapons.

There were firearms everywhere—pistols, rifles, and countless other models displayed neatly on racks.

Instead of paying much attention to the guns, Su Ming walked straight toward the knife display and examined it carefully.

The owner looked at him curiously.

"Why are you so interested in knives? Wouldn't a gun be much better? A gun makes killing simple. A knife requires close combat."

Su Ming shook his head.

"I prefer knives."

"Guns are effective, but they're also much more likely to expose your identity."

The owner chuckled.

"Fair point."

He silently guessed that Su Ming must have some unusual background.

Otherwise, he would never have known this place existed.

"Boss," Su Ming said, "recommend the best knife you have. Something that's easy to carry and won't get in the way."

The owner smiled.

"Based on what you're looking for, I'd recommend either a dagger or a military knife."

"The dagger is shorter."

"The military knife is longer and far more powerful."

"It can kill with a single strike."

"A dagger generally requires hitting a vital point."

"Then show me the military knife."

"Certainly."

The owner retrieved a knife from the rack.

It measured just over twenty centimeters long.

Its blade was razor-sharp, tapering to a needle-like point.

The edge curved slightly—not too much—and the spine featured jagged serrations that could inflict devastating wounds.

The moment Su Ming saw it...

He liked it.

Its craftsmanship was excellent.

Even just holding it, he could sense its power.

He gripped the knife lightly and swung it through the air several times.

Whoosh!

The blade sliced cleanly through the air, producing crisp, piercing sounds throughout the underground room.

"So?"

"Satisfied?"

the owner asked with a grin.

Su Ming nodded.

"It's excellent."

"Does it have a name?"

"It does."

"It's called the Ironblood Military Knife."

"The steel is so tough that ordinary bullets can't penetrate it."

"It's the finest blade in my collection."

"And also the most expensive."

"How much?"

Without waiting for an answer, Su Ming slashed toward the concrete wall.

The blade passed through effortlessly.

A deep cut appeared in the wall.

There were no cracks or shattered concrete—

Just one perfectly clean incision.

"Three thousand yuan."

The owner smiled.

"Fixed price."

Su Ming frowned.

"Are you robbing me?"

Money wasn't the issue.

He simply felt the price was excessive.

The owner became serious.

"You don't understand."

"This knife was imported from Africa."

"There were never many of them."

"Production has already stopped."

"You probably won't find one anywhere else."

"I only have two left."

"It's worth every cent."

"And if you're not satisfied after using it, you're welcome to return it."

"That's how much confidence I have in it."

"Of course..."

"You can't make up some random excuse."

"There are rules in this business."

"If you try to cheat me..."

"...you'll regret it."

Su Ming smiled.

"I wouldn't return it if it's really that good."

Then he said,

"I'd like to buy both of them."

The owner immediately shook his head.

"Impossible."

"I won't sell you both."

"They're too rare."

Su Ming looked puzzled.

"Too cheap?"

"It's not about the price."

"Even if you doubled it, I still wouldn't sell both."

"You don't understand how valuable the Ironblood Military Knife is."

"It's practically a collector's item."

Su Ming smiled helplessly.

"Fine."

"I'll take one."

He paid the three thousand yuan.

Now he understood.

The owner wasn't trying to raise the price.

He simply didn't want such a rare item to disappear entirely.

Before handing over the knife, the owner made one request.

"Please don't tell anyone you bought an Ironblood Military Knife from me."

"I understand."

Su Ming nodded.

He fastened the knife to the belt on the right side of his waist.

It didn't interfere with his movements at all.

Instead...

Carrying it filled him with newfound confidence.

After leaving the shop, Su Ming drove into Baihua Street.

Soon he arrived outside Charm Bar.

He parked his sports car and walked inside.

The deafening music instantly shook the entire building.

According to the information he had received...

Xia Jun usually arrived between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.

It was only midnight.

He still had time to wait.

A cold smile appeared on Su Ming's face.

They ambushed me once.

They seriously injured Lan Wanxi.

They probably never imagined...

...that one day they'd be the ones walking into an ambush.

Finding a seat, Su Ming ordered a glass of whiskey.

After finishing it, a tall American woman approached him with a charming smile.

She was dressed provocatively and carried herself with practiced confidence.

She smiled warmly.

"Sir, would you like to dance with me?"

She was one of the bar's hostesses.

The invitation to dance was simply her way of approaching potential customers.

Su Ming glanced at her.

Her figure was undeniably attractive.

But he immediately recognized what kind of work she did.

He wasn't interested.

"No."

He answered flatly.

She smiled without giving up.

"Don't be so cold."

"I only want to dance."

She moved closer, swaying her hips in an attempt to catch his attention.

Su Ming remained expressionless.

"I'm waiting for someone."

"I don't have time."

The woman blinked before smiling again.

"So you're waiting for someone."

"Waiting can be terribly boring."

"Why don't I keep you company?"

"Maybe you'll discover I'm talented in ways you weren't expecting."

Su Ming raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

"What kind of talent?"

She leaned closer with a flirtatious smile.

"You'll find out if you give me a chance."

"Interested?"

"How much?"

"Two hundred yuan."

"You'll be satisfied."

Without another word, Su Ming handed her two hundred yuan.

Smiling, she took his hand and led him toward one of the private rooms deeper inside the bar.
