Chapter 13 - It's All About Character

Su Ming strolled leisurely down the pitch-black path, his mood soaring. Tian Keke had agreed to be his girlfriend. *Should I take her to a hotel now? Could this be the moment my inner fire ignites?*

*Damn it! I was such an idiot. I should have taken her out earlier, booked a hotel, and had a beautiful encounter!*

*Ahem!* Tian Keke also had a stunning mother. The thought of that seductive, voluptuous woman... *Damn it, why did my little brother just get hard?*

*What the hell am I thinking? I'm trying to get with her daughter, not her! I need to be more careful next time. That woman's allure is too fierce. If I'm not careful, I'll end up falling for her.* Su Ming couldn't understand why she would so brazenly seduce him in front of her daughter.

*Hmm, a top-tier mother is indeed a top-tier woman.*

As he was thinking this, Su Ming had already returned home. He pushed the door open and saw his mother, Wang Xiu, had returned, prepared dinner, and was waiting for him.

"Son, why are you back so late? Come here, let Mama give you a kiss." Wang Xiu's face lit up as she saw Su Ming return. She immediately pulled him close and planted a kiss on his cheek.

Su Ming blushed. After all, he was grown up now, yet his mother still kissed him daily. It was the one thing she loved to do every day when he came home from school.

"Oh, Mingzai, what are you blushing about? Mama kissing you, it's just a mother's love. Look at you, what are you thinking about?" Wang Xiu's long, flowing hair, bright eyes, dewy red lips, and slender figure, all enhanced by her professional white-collar attire, radiated a soft, maternal aura.

"Mom, stop kissing me. My face is getting red," Su Ming said, sitting down at the dining table.

"Hehe! You really are blushing! If you blush so easily, how are you ever going to chase girls? By the way, it's already the second semester of the school year. You should bring a girl home to show me, right? Make me proud! I'm waiting for you, you know. The girl should have big breasts, a perky butt, and fair, tender skin. And her personality—no violent types, or you'll suffer, and I'll suffer with you. Got it?" Wang Xiu said earnestly.

"Alright, Mom, I get it. I'll work hard," Su Ming promised. If he didn't, his mother would pester him endlessly.

I forgot to mention, Su Ming's mother was also the ultimate helicopter parent.

She was constantly nagging him to bring a girl home, insisting he was old enough to start dating. She claimed a girlfriend would liven up the house.

After dinner, Su Ming took a shower and lay comfortably on his bed. Wang Xiu had already tidied up the room, leaving it neat and orderly, a stark contrast to the morning's chaos.

"Mingzai, are you asleep yet?" Wang Xiu knocked on the door.

"No, Mom. What is it?" Su Ming replied, getting up to open the door.

Wang Xiu held out five hundred yuan, smiling as she handed it to him. "Here, Mingzai. Take this five hundred yuan to spend. Remember, four hundred and ninety-nine yuan of it should be used to treat a girl to snacks. That's how you'll make her like you. Be generous when you're with people."

"Mom, didn't I already spend all my allowance this month? Why are you giving me more?" Su Ming asked, puzzled.

"Oh, take it! Your mom got promoted!" Wang Xiu said, stuffing the money into Su Ming's hand with a smile. "My salary went from 3,000 yuan to 7,000 yuan a month. I'm so happy! Next month, I'll hire a tutor to help you with your homework every night. It'll probably cost about 3,000 to 4,000 yuan a month, but I don't care. As long as Mingzai gets good grades, I'll be satisfied! Of course, I'd be even happier if you had a girlfriend."

"Mom, take it back," Su Ming said confidently. "Starting today, I'm not spending your money anymore."

Wang Xiu stared at him in surprise. "Is your head on fire? How will you pay for anything without my money?"

"I'll earn it myself," Su Ming replied with a smile. He decided not to tell her about his superpowers. If he did, she'd really think he was feverish.

"You?" Wang Xiu covered her mouth and laughed derisively. "You're just a student—how can you make money? Just take it, or I'll be upset!"

"Okay!" Su Ming relented. He didn't want to spoil his mom's good mood. "Mom, I'm going to bed. I'll give you a surprise tomorrow."

"What surprise?" Wang Xiu asked with a smile.

"I can't tell you, or it wouldn't be a surprise. But I guarantee you'll be surprised," Su Ming said, closing the door and collapsing onto the bed to fall asleep.

Wang Xiu was puzzled. *Why has my son changed so much tonight?* she wondered. *He seems so confident. Could his grades have improved? Did he win a school award?*

She immediately confirmed her suspicion, no longer considering the surprise a surprise! Wang Xiu chuckled. Even though she wasn't surprised anymore, she knew she had to pretend to be tomorrow to satisfy her son's rare moment of pride.

With that thought, Wang Xiu returned to her room. Early the next morning, Su Ming rose, washed up, and hurried to school.

*I can't be late today after pranking that math teacher yesterday,* he thought. *Otherwise, he'll seize the opportunity to suggest I get expelled.*

When Su Ming saw math teacher Ye Siwen later that day, the man's face was stern, as if Su Ming owed him hundreds of thousands. Ye Siwen was still seething from the humiliation Su Ming had inflicted on him the day before, which had earned him a severe scolding from the principal. He clearly held a grudge.

"Su Ming, come up and answer this question." Ye Siwen adjusted his glasses, his face impassive, though inwardly he seethed, determined to make this rascal student squirm and humiliate him.

Su Ming shrugged, knowing Ye Siwen intended to trap him with a difficult math problem. *He thinks he can settle the score with this,* he thought, *but he doesn't know about my doubled learning ability. I've already mastered today's entire lesson.*

*Swish, swish!*

Su Ming quickly scribbled down the answer in his usual messy, hurried script. Ye Siwen scowled. "How dare you present such atrocious handwriting?"

"What can I do?" Su Ming said helplessly. "This is my level. Please just make do, Teacher."

"Hmph." Ye Siwen glared at him, squinting behind his glasses. After a long moment, he finally deciphered the answer and realized it was correct. He couldn't help but look at Su Ming with new eyes. *How did this student, who always gets red marks, suddenly become so good?*

"Correct. But your handwriting is sloppy. You need to practice more. Such ugly writing will surely lead to a rotten character." Ye Siwen waved for Su Ming to return to his seat.

Su Ming smiled faintly. *Trying to make things difficult for me again, huh? Fine, I'll play along to the end.* He returned to his seat and said, "Don't worry, Teacher. My character has always been impeccable."

"Haha, is that so? Why don't you compete with me in character, then?" Ye Siwen said with a sly grin.

Though the students didn't know exactly what was going on, they could sense the tension between the two. The classroom had ceased to be a classroom, becoming instead their arena for mutual combat.

"Sure, that's exactly what I had in mind. Teacher, why don't you first demonstrate just how impeccable your character is?" Su Ming said with a faint smile.

Ye Siwen laughed heartily, nodding confidently. He pointed at a student and said, "You, stand up and declare that I am the best teacher in Class 29."

"Um... I actually think Ms. Xia Lina is the best teacher," the student said.

Ye Siwen's expression darkened. "You, you, you! How come I didn't give you a major demerit for being late this morning? It seems I'll have to go back and change that!"

"Uh, haha, you're the best teacher in Class 29."

Ye Siwen smiled smugly, looking at Su Ming with a swagger. "See? That's what I call character!"

The students glared at him in unison. His character was as rotten as mud, but Ye Siwen had clearly gained the upper hand.

Deep down, Su Ming despised Ye Siwen. How dare he talk about character?

"Su Ming, where's your character? If you have none, don't even try to compete with your teacher!" Ye Siwen sneered.

"Just watch!" Knowing how smug he was, Su Ming turned to Tian Keke and said, "Kiss me, quick!"

*Ugh!* Tian Keke rolled her eyes. *I agreed to be your girlfriend, but must you be so obnoxious? Kissing in class? Are you trying to get us killed? Do you see the dozens of pairs of eyes on us?*

But Tian Keke knew Su Ming was sparring with the math teacher. She also knew that if she didn't kiss him, he'd lose face. Reluctantly, she leaned in and kissed him in front of everyone.

"See? That's character too," Su Ming said with a triumphant grin.

The entire class collapsed in unison. Ye Siwen nearly vomited blood, his face turning a sickly green and purple.
