The battlefield had not settled.
It had only shifted.
Smoke curled through the ruined city as Cybertronians and Autobots clashed across shattered streets. Human forces had already pulled back to a safe perimeter, their weapons useless against the scale of power now unleashed. Above it all, Cybertron loomed in Earth's orbit alive, glowing, watching.
At the center of it all stood two figures.
Megatron and Optimus Prime.
Their clash continued with relentless force, every blow sending shockwaves through the ground beneath them. Optimus fought with precision and resolve, the power of the Matrix flowing through him, reinforcing his frame and sharpening his reactions. But Megatron… was something else entirely now.
Faster.
Stronger.
Evolved.
Megatron caught Optimus's incoming strike and twisted, throwing him through the remains of a collapsed structure. Concrete and steel exploded outward as the Autobot leader crashed into the debris.
"You are outmatched, Prime," Megatron said coldly.
Optimus rose slowly.
"As long as I stand… you will not harm this world."
Megatron's optics burned brighter.
"That world is already dead."
Across the battlefield, Soundwave moved like a silent executioner.
Bumblebee and Ratchet struggled to hold him back, their combined efforts barely enough to keep pace with his upgraded capabilities. Soundwave adapted instantly to every tactic, predicting movement patterns and countering with mechanical precision.
Bumblebee lunged forward, transforming mid-motion and slamming into Soundwave with full force. For a moment, the Decepticon staggered.
Ratchet fired, landing a direct hit.
But it wasn't enough.
Soundwave recalibrated instantly, retaliating with a powerful blast that sent both Autobots skidding across the ground.
"Resistance… ineffective," Soundwave stated.
Elsewhere, Sentinel Prime stood unmoving, watching the chaos unfold.
Ironhide was gone.
The battlefield had tilted.
But Sentinel's focus was no longer on the fight.
It was on the ground beneath them.
A low rumble echoed.
At first, it was subtle barely noticeable beneath the noise of battle.
Then it grew.
The ground began to tremble.
Optimus felt it first.
His optics shifted downward.
"…Something is wrong."
Megatron felt it too.
Not fear.
Recognition.
"The signal…" he murmured.
The System activated instantly.
Warning
Unicron Activity Detected
Dormant Core Reactivating
Threat Level: Planetary
Megatron's expression sharpened.
"So it begins."
Across the planet, earthquakes erupted without warning.
Oceans surged violently.
Volcanic systems destabilized.
Deep beneath Earth's crust, something ancient stirred.
Something vast.
Something alive.
A voice ancient, immense, and filled with hunger echoed through existence itself.
"…At last…"
The sky darkened.
Clouds spiraled unnaturally as energy surged upward from the planet's core.
All combat stopped.
Autobots and Cybertronians alike turned toward the source.
The ground split open in the distance.
Massive structures began to rise metallic formations emerging from beneath the Earth's surface, reshaping the terrain into something unnatural.
Cities trembled.
Mountains cracked.
The planet was changing.
Megatron stepped forward slowly.
"Unicron…"
His voice carried both acknowledgment and intent.
Optimus turned toward him.
"You knew."
Megatron did not deny it.
"This planet was never yours to protect."
Optimus clenched his fists.
"It is home to billions of innocent lives!"
"And it is the body of a god," Megatron replied.
Before either could continue, Sentinel stepped forward.
"This changes nothing," he said.
Megatron turned slightly.
"It changes everything."
The ground erupted again this time closer.
A massive structure tore upward from beneath the battlefield itself, forcing everyone to scatter.
From within the rupture, glowing lines of energy spread outward like veins.
The planet was waking up.
The System pulsed again inside Megatron's mind.
Mission Active
Eliminate Unicron
Absorb Core Energy
Restore Cybertron
Time Limit: Undefined
Jake focused.
This was it.
The turning point.
Megatron raised his arm, weapon shifting into heavy configuration.
"All units," he commanded.
"Disengage current combat."
The battlefield paused.
Even Sentinel looked at him.
Megatron's voice carried absolute authority.
"Your enemy is no longer each other."
He pointed toward the rising structures.
"It is him."
Optimus hesitated.
For a moment, the war… stopped.
Ratchet helped Bumblebee to his feet.
Soundwave stood still, awaiting command.
Sentinel narrowed his optics.
"A temporary alliance?" he asked.
Megatron did not look at him.
"Call it survival."
Another eruption shook the ground violently.
A massive shape began forming in the distance too large to comprehend fully, its scale dwarfing cities.
The air itself felt heavier.
Oppressive.
Alive.
Optimus stepped forward.
"If we do this… it is to protect Earth."
Megatron finally turned toward him.
"No," he said calmly.
"It is to decide its fate."
Above them, Cybertron glowed brighter.
Below them, Earth awakened.
And rising from the depths of the planet…
Unicron began to emerge.
