Chapter 11 - The Vote

The Core Tower doors closed behind them with a deep metallic sound that echoed like a final warning.

All thirteen challengers were now inside.

No more running.

No more hiding.

No more gathering resources.

Now, they had to face something far more dangerous than monsters or traps.

They had to face each other.

Inside the Core Tower

The room was enormous and circular, like a courtroom designed by someone who did not believe in justice.

In the center of the room was a tall black pillar with two glowing handprints on it.

Above it, a massive screen displayed the rule:

"All challengers must vote."

"Two names will be selected."

"Selected challengers will exit the dungeon."

"All others will be eliminated."

No one spoke for a long time.

The silence was heavy, suffocating, filled with thoughts no one wanted to say out loud.

Then Silas Mord started walking toward the center.

"Well," he said calmly, "this is the part where people pretend to be good."

Astra didn't respond.

Silas looked around at everyone.

"Let's not lie to each other," he continued.

"Everyone here wants to live."

"And everyone here knows that most of us will die."

He turned slightly toward Astra.

"So let's talk honestly."

Silas's Proposal

Silas stood beside the voting pillar and spoke like a politician giving a speech.

"There are thirteen of us," he said.

"Most of you are not strong enough to survive future dungeons."

"Even if you leave this city, you will die later in another Arena."

Some people looked down.

Some looked angry.

Some looked scared.

Silas continued:

"But if you vote for me… I can guarantee one thing."

He paused.

"I will destroy the Arena from the inside."

That made everyone look up.

Even Astra.

Silas smiled slightly.

"You all want freedom, don't you?" he said.

"You all hate this system."

"You all want to go home."

He placed his hand on the voting pillar but did not activate it yet.

"Vote for me," he said.

"And vote for anyone else you want."

He looked around the room.

"I don't care who the second survivor is."

Then he stepped back.

The room exploded into whispers.

Astra Speaks

Astra finally stepped forward.

She did not stand on the pillar.

She did not try to look powerful.

She just spoke.

"If you vote for me," she said, "I can't promise I'll destroy the Arena."

Silas smiled slightly, like he expected that.

Astra continued:

"I can't promise I'll save everyone."

"I can't promise I'll win every game."

"I can't promise I'll come back alive."

She looked around the room at every single person.

"But I can promise one thing," she said.

"I will never use people as tools to save myself."

Her eyes moved to Silas for just a second.

Then back to everyone else.

"If I leave this place," Astra said, "I will fight the Arena openly."

"Not from the shadows."

"Not by sacrificing others."

"But by breaking their games in front of everyone."

She stepped back.

"I don't want your vote because I'm the strongest," she said.

"I want your vote if you believe the way we survive… matters."

The People Decide

Now it was no longer about strength.

Or intelligence.

Or strategy.

It was about belief.

One by one, people started walking toward the pillar.

The first person was Lio, the young tech specialist from Astra's group.

He placed his hand on the pillar.

"First vote: Astra Vale."

He hesitated for the second vote.

Then he said, "Second vote: Mira Kade."

Mira looked shocked. "Why me?"

Lio answered quietly, "Because you're strong enough to survive… and smart enough not to become like him."

The second vote was from Doran Vex.

"First vote: Astra Vale."

"Second vote: Rian Holt."

Rian looked shocked. "Why me? I'm not even strong!"

Doran replied, "You're the kind of person this world shouldn't lose."

Then Mira voted.

"First vote: Astra Vale."

"Second vote: Doran Vex."

Then Rian voted, hands shaking.

"First vote: Astra Vale."

He looked around, then slowly said,

"Second vote… Silas Mord."

Everyone looked surprised.

Rian swallowed. "I hate him… but he's the only one here who can fight the Arena with his brain."

Silas smiled slightly.

"That might be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me," he said.

Silas's Group Votes

Now Silas's people started voting.

Most of them voted:

First vote: Silas Mord.

Second vote: Themselves.

They wanted to live.

It was that simple.

No speeches.

No ideals.

Just survival.

The Final Vote — Silas

Now only Silas had not voted.

The screen displayed the current results:

Astra Vale — 5 votes

Silas Mord — 5 votes

Others — scattered votes

The final decision…

Was in Silas's hands.

He walked slowly toward the pillar.

Everyone watched him.

If he voted for himself, he would likely win.

If he voted for Astra, she would win.

He placed his hand on the pillar.

"First vote," the system said.

Silas smiled slightly.

"Silas Mord."

No one was surprised.

Then the system asked:

"Second vote?"

Silas looked at Astra.

For a long moment, he said nothing.

Then he spoke.

"Second vote…" he said softly.

"…Astra Vale."

The entire room went silent.

Even Astra looked surprised.

The system began calculating results.

Final Results

"Voting Complete."

"Selected Survivors:"

"Astra Vale."

"Silas Mord."

The floor under the other challengers began to glow.

Elimination sequence starting.

Some people cried.

Some people accepted it quietly.

Some people smiled, strangely at peace.

Rian looked at Astra and smiled weakly. "Looks like… we picked the right person."

Mira nodded slightly at Astra. "Don't waste this."

Doran just said, "Win."

Lio looked at her and said, "Break the system."

Light swallowed them.

And then they were gone.

Final Conversation — Astra and Silas

Now only Astra and Silas were left in the tower.

Silas looked at her and smiled slightly.

"Do you understand why I voted for you?" he asked.

Astra shook her head slightly.

Silas answered:

"Because you are the only person here who can reach the top of the Arena."

He turned and began walking toward the exit light.

"And because," he added,

"If anyone is going to destroy this world…"

He looked back at her one last time.

"It will be more interesting if it's you."

Control Room

Bronn watched the results, stunned.

"They both survived," he said.

Kael nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Bronn looked at him. "Was this your plan?"

Kael watched Astra and Silas walking out of the tower on the screen.

Then he said quietly:

"No."

He paused.

"But this… is better."

Final Line of the Chapter

As Astra walked out of the dungeon, a new title appeared on the Arena broadcast across the galaxy:

"New Title Unlocked:"

"The Girl Who Was Chosen By Enemies."

And in another part of the galaxy, powerful people began to notice her name for the first time.

Not as a player.

Not as a survivor.

But as a threat.
