Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: First Battle of the Guardians

War was no longer a distant threat waiting on the horizon.

It had already begun.

Across the world, the Guardians stood alone. Separated from one another, isolated in different regions, each faced a battlefield unlike anything they had ever encountered before. There was no strategy room, no unified front, no coordinated defense.

This was not a single war.

This was survival.

Agniya – The Burning Plains

The land itself had become a nightmare.

Flames stretched endlessly across the plains, rising like towering walls that devoured everything in their path. The air shimmered with unbearable heat, thick enough to suffocate even someone who commanded fire itself.

At the center of this inferno stood Agniya.

Her sharp eyes scanned the battlefield as she tightened her grip on her blade.

"You've got to be kidding me," she muttered.

Around her, creatures formed from fire and shadow circled slowly. Their bodies flickered unnaturally, their flames darker than any natural blaze—twisted, corrupted, alive in a way that felt wrong.

Agniya stepped forward without hesitation.

"Let's see who burns who."

She moved first.

A violent burst of flames erupted around her as she dashed forward, slicing through the nearest creature in a single, precise strike. The impact scattered embers in all directions.

But something was wrong.

The flames did not fade.

The creature reformed almost instantly, its body reshaping as if nothing had happened.

Agniya's expression hardened.

"So that's how it is."

More creatures closed in.

She attacked again—faster this time, stronger. Each strike carried explosive force, each movement fueled by controlled destruction. Fire roared, explosions echoed across the plains.

Yet no matter how many she cut down, they continued to return.

Endless.

Relentless.

For the first time, Agniya took a step back.

"This isn't normal fire."

The ground beneath her cracked violently.

From the depths below, something massive began to rise.

A towering entity of flame and shadow emerged, its presence alone distorting the air around it. The heat intensified instantly, forcing Agniya backward.

She smirked faintly.

"Now that's more like it."

But beneath that confidence—

Her heart began to race.

Because she knew this enemy was different.

Varun – The Drowned Streets

The city had drowned.

Water filled the streets, submerging buildings halfway and trapping civilians in pockets of desperation. Beneath the surface, dark shapes moved silently, hunting.

Varun stood at the center, his expression tense but focused.

"Stay behind me!"

The civilians gathered close as he raised both hands. The surrounding water responded instantly, surging upward and forming a protective dome around them.

For a moment, they were safe.

Then something struck from below.

The barrier trembled.

Another hit followed—stronger this time—cracking through the defense.

Varun reacted immediately. With a sharp motion, blades of water formed and sliced through the attacking creature, dispersing it into fragments.

But more came.

Too many.

The water around him began to shift unpredictably.

"Focus…"

He tried to stabilize it, to bring it back under control.

But it resisted.

"No…"

For the first time, his command over water faltered.

A massive wave surged unexpectedly, crashing into him and throwing him backward. The protective barrier flickered dangerously.

The civilians screamed.

Varun clenched his fist tightly.

"I won't let this fall apart."

Prithvi – The Shattered Mountains

The mountains trembled without end.

Massive creatures made of stone and shadow advanced slowly, each step shaking the ground beneath them. Their movements were heavy, unstoppable, like living earthquakes.

Prithvi stood firm in their path.

"You're not getting past me."

She slammed her foot into the ground.

The earth responded instantly, rising into massive walls that blocked the creatures' advance. The impact echoed as they collided with her defenses.

But they did not stop.

They pushed forward.

Cracks spread across the walls.

"Impossible…"

She reinforced the ground, pouring more strength into it.

Stronger walls formed.

But they began to break again.

Then she felt it.

The earth beneath her shifted unnaturally.

"The earth… is rejecting me?"

For the first time, Prithvi hesitated.

Vayu – The Storm Battlefield

The sky had turned into chaos.

Lightning struck randomly, tearing through the air with violent force. Winds howled uncontrollably, ripping apart anything in their path.

And within this storm—

Enemies moved freely.

Vayu moved swiftly through the air, dodging attacks while firing arrows with perfect precision. Each shot struck its target without fail.

Yet something was wrong.

The storm itself resisted him.

A bolt of lightning struck dangerously close.

"That wasn't me."

The winds suddenly shifted, throwing him off balance mid-air.

"This isn't a natural storm…"

Realization hit him.

"It's being controlled."

Jyoti – The Fading Light

Her light spread across the battlefield, pushing back darkness wherever it reached.

She healed the wounded. She protected the weak.

But it wasn't enough.

Every time she forced the darkness back, it returned—stronger than before.

"Why won't it stop…"

Her light flickered.

For the first time, exhaustion crept into her body.

"No…"

She tightened her grip on her staff.

"I can't fall here."

Nish – The Shadow Domain

There was no chaos.

No destruction.

Only silence.

And darkness.

Nish stood alone, his presence steady within the endless void.

"You've been waiting," he said calmly.

The shadows shifted.

"And you've been running…"

His eyes narrowed.

"I don't run."

The darkness echoed with laughter.

"You ran from yourself."

Without warning, the shadows attacked.

Faster than before.

Sharper.

More precise.

Nish reacted instantly—dodging, countering, striking. His blade cut through them again and again.

But they kept returning.

Endless.

He stopped.

"…Or part of something bigger."

The shadows began to gather, merging into a massive form.

"You remember now?"

"No."

"Then we'll remind you."

Across the world, the Guardians struggled.

Each one pushed further.

Each one reaching their limit.

Varun's barrier began to shatter.

Prithvi's defenses collapsed.

Agniya was forced backward.

Vayu lost control of the sky.

Jyoti's light dimmed.

And Nish—

Faced himself.

Far away, Tamraj watched everything unfold.

"Yes…"

"Break."

Back on the battlefield, everything reached its breaking point.

Jyoti fell to one knee.

Her light faded.

Agniya was thrown back by the massive flame entity.

Varun's barrier shattered completely.

Prithvi's ground defenses crumbled.

Vayu was struck mid-air.

And Nish stood surrounded.

The shadows closed in.

"Choose…"

"Who are you?"

For a moment, silence filled the void.

Then Nish's eyes began to glow.

The darkness froze.

"I am…"

Silence.

Then—

He moved.

A violent surge of shadow exploded outward, obliterating everything around him. The attacking darkness vanished instantly.

For a brief moment—

Everything became still.

Across the world, the pressure eased.

Only slightly.

But enough.

Jyoti slowly stood again.

"Nish…"

The others felt it too.

Something had shifted.

Not victory.

But not defeat either.

Far away, Tamraj smiled.

"There it is…"

"The beginning."
