Chapter 26 - How To Confess?

Receiving a hint from Scarlett, Andrew found the gear and started driving.

Because he was anxious and hadn't driven in a long time, his foot was heavy on the accelerator, causing the car to frequently lurch forward and then brake suddenly.

Although Scarlett didn't say anything, her heart had already jumped out of her chest.

She was already dizzy, and with this fright, she felt even weaker, her consciousness becoming somewhat blurred.

By the time they reached the hospital, Scarlett didn't even have the strength to walk. She kept emitting low, uncomfortable groans, and opening her eyes was extremely strenuous.

She only heard Andrew's extremely anxious voice by her ear.

"Teacher, Teacher!"

Seeing the situation was bad, Andrew didn't hesitate. He scooped up Scarlett and ran into the hospital's emergency department.

During the process, Scarlett only heard Andrew anxiously communicating with the doctor a few times.

"What is her name?"

"Scarlett."

"Report her ID number."

"I don't know that."

"Then what about her medical insurance card?"

"I don't know that either."

"How can you, as her Boyfriend, not know anything?"

"None of that is important, treat her first!"

"Put her on a hospital bed first."

"Okay."

---

When Scarlett opened her eyes and woke up again, she found herself lying on a hospital bed with an IV drip in the back of her hand.

She turned her head slightly and saw Andrew resting his head on the bedside, dozing off.

Suddenly, Andrew's head tilted, his supporting arm slipped, and he woke up with a start. Seeing Scarlett had opened her eyes, he quickly asked, "Teacher, how are you feeling now?"

"Better, just very weak,"

Scarlett said in a low voice, her tone still extremely frail.

"That's good."

Andrew breathed a sigh of relief, finally letting go of his worried heart.

Then she picked up Scarlett's bag, lowered her head, and apologized to her, "Teacher, I just went through your bag to find your ID. I'm sorry."

Going through a girl's bag was a capital offense punishable by being torn apart by five horses. Never mind other women, Andrew wouldn't even dare touch the bags of his own sister or mother.

But the situation had been urgent just now. After settling Scarlett, the doctor asked for her ID, so he had no choice but to search the bag.

"It's fine, I won't blame you."

"Then Teacher, you rest a little longer. I'll watch the IV drip for you and wake you up when it's done."

"Mmm~"

Scarlett closed her eyes again. She was still weak all over, without a shred of strength.

It wasn't until nine in the evening, after Scarlett's IV drip was finished, that she recovered some strength, but her complexion remained pale.

The doctor walked in then and explained Scarlett's condition, "It's just a fever caused by a bacterial infection combined with catching a cold. Have you been walking around barefoot at home all the time?"

Scarlett nodded.

"Pay attention to keeping warm these few days, and don't walk barefoot at home anymore. Getting chilled in the soles of your feet can easily lead to a cold."

Scarlett nodded again, and Andrew subsequently asked the doctor, "Does she need to be hospitalized?"

"Hospitalization isn't necessary, and it wouldn't be convenient. After going back, tell your girlfriend not to eat cold things, and just have some congee tonight."

"Ok."

Andrew originally intended to explain that they weren't a couple, but the person was a doctor and extremely busy, so he didn't want to waste their time. Besides, the doctor had no leisure time for gossip anyway. And he himself felt a little pleased hearing it.

After hearing the doctor's instructions, the two left the hospital.

On the way back, Andrew drove much more steadily, without the recklessness of the trip over.

As they were about to pass the supermarket, Andrew asked, "Teacher, what kind of khichadi (rice mixed with dal) do you want for dinner?"

(Just a suggestion, I kept this, or put here Oatmeal)

Scarlett shook her head, "I don't know. I've never had khichadi."

"Then do you want savory or sweet khichadi?"

"Sweet, I guess."

"Then wait for me in the car for a while. I'll go buy some ingredients to cook khichadi."

Andrew worked busily all evening, cooking khichadi for Scarlett. After settling her down to rest, it was almost midnight when Andrew returned to his own room to rest.

"Finally, I can rest."

Andrew let out a long sigh of relief, lay down tiredly in his chair, and upon opening his computer, saw a large batch of messages sent by Ethan. He casually replied with an emoji.

"You're finally alive! I thought you got into a car accident on the way back. If you hadn't replied sooner, I was going to call the Counselor."

"Idiot, I got held up with something temporarily."

"Busy with what?"

"None of your business."

Andrew was too tired to even bother making up an excuse.

"Then log in and play games."

"Fine."

Andrew was very tired but didn't feel sleepy, as he had managed to nap a little while accompanying Scarlett for her IV drip at the hospital.

Under the same roof, Scarlett was lying in bed, chatting with Suzanne.

"Sister Scar, you really scared me. This afternoon when you said you felt unwell, I started worrying about you, but then you didn't reply to my messages."

"It's nothing now, just a fever. It's gone down after getting an IV drip at the hospital."

"Since you had to go to the hospital, why didn't you tell me? It's dangerous to go to the hospital alone when you're sick."

Scarlett's fingers hovered over the screen for a moment before she decided to conceal the real situation, replying only with a simple 'Mm'.

"Sister Scar, I think you should find a boyfriend. If you're not satisfied with the matches your family arranges, you can find someone yourself. You can't spend your whole life alone. There will always be times when you're inconvenienced or uncomfortable. Like today when you were sick, it would have been much more comfortable if someone had taken care of you."

If this were in the past, if someone suggested she find a partner, Scarlett would either ignore them or refuse outright, leaving no room for discussion.

Her reasons for not looking for a Boyfriend were numerous and couldn't be shaken by just a few words.

But today, she didn't immediately refuse; instead, she remained silent and didn't reply. While thinking, she didn't need to find the boyfriend she already had, she just needed to confess.

What Suzanne said was absolutely true. Scarlett dared not think about what would have happened today if Andrew hadn't been there.

She had a high fever of 41 degrees and had lost consciousness. If she had been a bit luckier, the fever might have broken naturally, and she could have staggered to the hospital by herself. But what if she had been unlucky?

She recalled a news story from last year about a young person working alone in Brooklyn City who died from sudden exhaustion in their rented room. It wasn't until three days later, when colleagues noticed the person hadn't shown up for work, that the police were called and discovered the body.

Scarlett dared not think further and shifted her thoughts.

She thought, although she had dared to do something with Andrew, but still, she hesitated, how to get close with him.

Although they live under the same roof, still she has not confessed to him. How to confess to him?

When she lost consciousness tonight, although she couldn't open her eyes, she heard Andrew's anxious voice many times, as well as the sound of him carrying her back and forth.

After hesitating for a while, Scarlett finally replied to Suzanne's suggestion.

"I know."
