Chapter 2 - BASIC SPELLS

{ C2 — BASIC SPELLS }

Looking at the available world token, I really wanted to use it but I controlled myself. I wasn't sure what kind of world it would be, so I didn't want to take any risk. But then when I confirmed with the system, it said that I wouldn't be directly sent to that world, rather the world token would simply unlock a random world for me.

"If that's the case, then there shouldn't be any problem in using it right now," I muttered in certainty and decided to use the world token.

"System, use the world token."

[ Congratulations, host! You have unlocked the world: Megan 2.0 (#69). ]

"Oh! That's a good world. Advanced in tech but not supernatural." I concluded as I had watched both the movies. Megan was a robot made to be companions for children, but in part one, she went rogue but was dealt by the main characters. In part two, Megan is showed to have survive as an AI, and she turns over a new leaf and joins the protagonist team.

Together, they aim to stop another robot made from the leaked blueprints of Megan. The enemy robot was controlled by a secret organization, and this one goes rogue as well and tries to release an old AI entity that has been in captivity for decades. Both Megan and the enemy robot have a fight and somehow, the old AI entity gets released, but Megan chooses to sacrifice her physical body to destroy both of them, bringing an end to the threat. At the end, it was showed that Megan had created a clone of hers before going on this mission, meaning, that she was still alive.

The first part was more of a psychological thriller, but the second part was purely sci-fi action.

"Although, the world is much safer than Marvel, I won't be able to get the most out of it if I go directly. Rather, I should focus on learning some spells and level up, and gain at least one class upgrade before going to that world." I quickly devised my plan for this new world. Right now, my main priority was gaining strength. Additionally, I could brings things from one world to another, but only none living things, and Megan's source code just happened to be one.

"But before that, I need to check the conditions for class upgrade." I accessed the system and quickly found the conditions for my class upgrade. There were three.

> Reach level 10.

> Learn five N-grade spells.

> Have 15 Intelligence and 10 Perception.

Fulfilling these conditions would allow me to upgrade my class to Adept Mage (R).

"Alright, but how do I gain EXP? Where can I even find monsters to kill?" I muttered in frustration and began checking out the system.

I learnt that there were three main ways of earning EXP. The first was fighting enemies. I would get 100% EXP for killing them and 25% for defeating them. The second was through quests. They would be auto generated based on situation and world. And fortunately, there was no penalty associated with failing to complete any mission. And last method of earning EXP was through skills. Certain skills would provide EXP when using them. And fortunately, I had two skills that allowed me to earn EXP.

The Primordial Grimoire (EX) would grant me EXP for learning new spells, recipes and techniques. While the Celestial Fluids (EX) would grant me EXP for releasing my fluids within a women.

"Well, right now, my main source of EXP would be my skills since I don't have any strength to fight people and there's no quest right now." I muttered in conclusion and closed the system panel because it was time to get ready.

Today, the Empire State University was organizing an orientation for first-year students to get them familiar with the campus and courses. Of course, I wasn't really interested in that but rather in meeting the Marvel girls. I wasn't really sure who would be attending the college, but to my knowledge, most of them were related to Spider-Man stories.

"Alright, time to freshen up."

After getting ready, I didn't immediately head outside as it was still only 7 in the morning. The orientation was scheduled for 11.

Instead, I sat down on my bed and opened the Primordial Grimoire. A massive book materialized before me. The book was covered in intricate ruins that I couldn't understand, obviously. The book was dark brown in colour and looked aged.

The book automatically turned to the first page, that introduced me to the basics of spell casting. The first and foremost requirement of spell casting was having mana. It could either be through the mana present within the body of the caster themselves or through an outside source.

Thankfully, my above average, almost genius level intellect allowed me to comprehend the basics quite easily. About fifteen minutes later, I got the basics down. There were many kinds of spell casting described in the grimoire, but the two most noticeable ones were imagination-based spell casting and rune-based spell casting. The first type provided versatility while the later provided raw power.

Checking the time, I decided to start with rune-based spell casting since it was more beginner-friendly and basic spells required only one or two runes to cast.

Thinking about it, the grimoire automatically turned to another page, displaying names for the most basic rune-based spells. After looking through the list, I selected the simplest spell, Mana Bullet (N).

As its name suggested, the Mana Bullet spell was about turning mana into a small bullet and shooting at a distant target. It required just one rune to cast, but speed and accuracy required practice.

"Okay, then. Let's start learning it."
