Nami watched the scene before her with a morbid fascination. It simply couldn't be real. Her entire worldview had crumbled in just a couple of hours. First, she'd come to the cave thinking she was going to rob a PERSON. No. It turned out to be a giant wolf. A giant wolf that had tried to eat her. Her legs trembled at the thought, the fear still lurking in the back of her mind.
As if the wolf wasn't enough, the green-haired boy who saved her turned out to be a maniac. He went back to fighting that enormous thing! And just when she thought things couldn't get any crazier, it started firing its sword and moving faster than she could see. Something like that wasn't supposed to be possible!
Now she sat by the tree line, witnessing yet another sight that should have been impossible. The perverted boy she'd met hours earlier was flying around, throwing punches like he had a cannon for an arm! How was he so strong?! He didn't seem capable of something like that! Back then, she'd only asked him to team up because she wanted someone to distract the Lord of the Forest; she never imagined it would end like this!
The girl looked away from the battle and slapped herself. As much as she wanted to keep watching the boy and the wolf, she knew she wouldn't have a better chance to try and get her hands on the cave's treasure. Nami took a deep breath, watching the two monsters still locked in combat, before darting off toward the cave entrance. She had to move fast; she didn't know how long the fight between the straw hat boy and the wolf would last.
The cave entrance came into view, and he kicked his legs with all his might until he could almost see inside. He was going to make it! However, his celebration was cut short. Just as he was about to approach the entrance to see what the enormous monster was guarding, he got distracted.
"OK, WOOD BOY! THIS IS FOR HURTING MY FRIEND!"
Nami turned just in time to see the black-haired boy soar through the air and slam the giant wolf to the ground. A tremendous crash shook the area, and the girl's jaw hit the ground, thumping beneath her feet.
As she watched the cloud of dust created by the impact, Nami couldn't help but think aloud, "Who are these guys?" Shaking her head in exasperation, she quickly turned back to her original objective. Now that the Lord of the Forest was defeated, nothing stood in her way of taking the treasure. She could think about the more momentous matter later. Money came first.
Her body spun around completely, and she took a step forward. As she did, she felt as if she were passing through a layer of fog. She turned to survey the area, but found nothing to give her that sensation, only empty space. In her obsession with the air, the girl didn't notice a shadow looming over her. A rather large one.
Nami turned around slowly, looked up, and screamed.
Dust and debris filled the air as Luffy got up from his... fallen enemy? Wait a minute... As the air cleared, the boy gasped. He was standing in a large crater... all alone! Where on earth had the Forest Boy gone? He'd touched his fur when he punched him, so he knew he'd hit him.
A scream echoed across the clearing, near the cave, and Luffy didn't even have to look to know who it was. He remembered that scream... So the peeping Tom was there! He stepped out of the crater and was met with a familiar sight, though a different person than last time. And many more screams. The orange-haired girl was stumbling backward, trying to escape the black wolf, fear etched on her face. It seemed she'd tried to steal the treasure while he was fighting the forest man. She'd been right before... Peeping Toms were slippery.
Luffy ran toward the girl. He still had to be angry with her for trying to steal his treasure. Besides, he didn't want her to die. He wanted to be her friend! She had made him laugh, and he loved to laugh! The boy's eyes widened as the Lord of the Forest's jaws began to close around the girl, and he tried his best, but he soon realized it would be too late.
The Lord of the Forest's jaws snapped shut, the girl's cheeks grew wet and stained with tears as she screamed at her death, frozen in place.
In a moment of pure desperation and inspiration, Luffy used all the speed he had built up to throw a punch stronger than ever before. He wasn't even sure if it would work. He had always imagined it as a child, but with all the Haki training, finding a way to pull it off had been forgotten.
"GUN!" the boy yelled. All his momentum went into the punch, and his arm shot out with a crack. The sound echoed through the area as if something invisible had shattered and a bullet of condensed air, slightly larger than the boy's fist, had shot out in a desperate attempt to save the girl.
The projectile flew faster than the eye could perceive and crashed into its target's head, sending her reeling backward. After recovering, the beast roared in the direction of the impact, momentarily saving the orange-haired girl. The seven-year-old boy would be beaming right now.
Luffy wasted no time admiring his accomplishment and ran back toward the girl. "STAY AWAY FROM MY PRECIOUS!" the teenager yelled as she approached. He'd yell more when he had time. Not right now. "AND GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE YOU DIE!"
The girl immediately stood up and ran as if her life depended on it... because it did. Tears streamed down her face and her legs trembled with fear, but she managed to glance back and offer a small smile to Luffy, showing gratitude to the boy who had saved her. The moment was quickly shattered when she looked away and ran into the forest, searching for a safe place. It was obvious she wanted to get as far away from the black beast as possible.
The wolf had already recovered from Luffy's gun and it didn't seem to have caused much damage; he'd only bumped his head a little. He was going to have to punch the Forest Boy if he wanted to bring him down for good.
Luffy jumped again, and the wolf's paw immediately shot up, launching him into the air. The boy grabbed the enormous branch as it hit him and used it as a springboard to propel himself even higher, spinning in the air. "GATLING!" he shouted.
A barrage of air bullets was unleashed as he punched through the air in rapid succession, roaring with determination. His onslaught rained down from the sky, projectiles impacting the black wolf's flank. It managed to stay on its feet, but the impacts began to push it toward the cave entrance. "AND GUN!" the boy shouted, throwing his fist once more before preparing to land. The wolf's head jerked back again, and it was momentarily stunned. Luffy landed on his feet and immediately took to the air again; he couldn't waste the opportunity that had presented itself. The boy launched himself toward the beast's flank, fist raised high and knuckles hardened.
Another crash, like a cannon shot, echoed through the air, and the black wolf was flung against the wall of its cave with a deafening thud. Well, more like a thud. The cave itself remained intact, even with the weight of the large animal that had slammed into it. The wolf simply bounced and landed on the ground. However, it didn't stay there for long.
