Right now, she only had a tiny amount of Energy Gemstones—the ones she'd retrieved from the heart of the earth's fire. If she and her small group absorbed them all, they would be gone in no time.
Therefore, establishing a safe passage to Orinburg and other cities was the top priority. After all, the higher their levels grew, the more energy—and thus, more Crystal Cores—they would need to advance.
The Morhaven base was full of people. If they went too long without fighting zombies, their drive would falter. They would start to feel safe.
Subconsciously, Flora Bloom didn't want them to lose their ability to fight.
