However, an injured Adam Zane wasn't worth this abandoned mine. He wasn't even worth a dime.
Sue gestured to Charles Shaw behind her. Charles Shaw immediately stepped forward, pulled a document from his briefcase, and looked at the crowd with a smile. "Everyone, I am Ms. Sue Lawrence's attorney, Charles Shaw. Regarding Mr. Adam Zane's medical bills, hospital fees, and lost wages, our Lawrence Group will cover everything. We can even cover all his subsequent rehabilitation costs until he makes a full recovery. Do you need me to call an ambulance now?"
The expressions on everyone's faces changed. Sue was clearly telling them all, 'So what if I hit him? You want the mine? Dream on!'
Tiana Lynch's expression turned visibly sour. Without the mine, they wouldn't have a place to hoard supplies, nor would they have a Safe House. This was a huge disadvantage for them.
'Besides, Sue isn't even a Reincarnator. Leaving the mine in her hands is just a waste. Why can't she just let us use it?'
The more Tiana Lynch thought about it, the angrier she became, inwardly cursing Sue for being a cheapskate and a troublemaker.
She subconsciously looked at Jason Sterling, tugged on his sleeve, and whispered, "Jason, Sue is so cold-blooded. Has she already gotten over you so quickly?"
Jason Sterling frowned, fighting back his disgust as he turned and said, "Sue, your family has no use for an abandoned mine. Why don't you give it to me? I'll give you two million. Consider it a gesture for old time's sake. Don't you still like me? I can even spend the next few days with you."
'Wow, who is he trying to disgust?'
Sue couldn't be bothered to waste her breath. She once again let Charles Shaw take the stage, mainly because she really couldn't be bothered to argue with idiots.
A mocking smile played on Charles Shaw's lips. "The mine you've all mentioned is a fixed asset of the Lawrence Group, valued in the billions. Forget one Adam Zane—even ten or a hundred of him wouldn't be worth a ten-thousandth of the mine's value. Are you all being a bit too fanciful, trying to trade one unconscious person for a multi-billion-dollar asset?"
'That's a lawyer for you.' His blunt words laid everything bare, instantly exposing these people's ugly intentions for all to see.
Sue almost laughed. She felt incredibly satisfied.
She, too, thought they were being ridiculously delusional.
"Don't waste any more words on them, Attorney Shaw. Let's proceed."
She really hadn't come here today just to watch a show. She still had actual business to attend to.
Seeing Charles Shaw actually pull out a stack of documents and realizing the mine was truly out of reach, Tiana Lynch finally spoke up with false sincerity:
"Everyone, let's just drop it. Sue has been with us for so many years; we have history. Why don't we all talk this over calmly, okay? It's just that, Sue, we really can't give you 80%. Jason put in more effort than you did for this company, and so did everyone else. We all worked hard. I know you founded the company originally, so how about this... we'll give you 10%, okay? We really can't offer any more."
"Tiana!"
Tia Norris was furious. "You're just too kind! She brought her lawyer, acted high and mighty the whole time, and even hit someone! She's obviously here to rob us blind, and you're still offering her 10%? Giving her 5% would be generous! If you ask me, Sue shouldn't get a single dime!"
"Right, she hasn't contributed anything! Why should she get any money!"
"Yeah, don't give her anything!"
Miles Finch and the others all chimed in. Tiana Lynch could only look at Sue, and then, from an angle no one else could see, she shot her a provocative smile.
She deliberately mouthed the words, just like she used to, her expression triumphant and defiant: "Sue, you're not getting anything!"
'See? No one saw Tiana Lynch's true colors. Tiana was always the one bullying me, yet I'm the one who's painted as the aggressor.'
'How laughable.'
Sue frowned and activated her Skill again. 'Even if I have to rob you blind, it's still mine. Think I'll get nothing? No, this time, I'm taking Tiana Lynch's luck!'
'After all, the current Tiana Lynch has no real Abilities yet, she hasn't awakened her Superpower, she's dumb, she can't run a company, and she's poor. Besides being a Reincarnator, she has no advantages whatsoever!'
[Ding! Plundered 30% Luck Value. Tiana Lynch's remaining Luck Value: 0.175!]
Sue: ????
'I plundered thirty percent, but she's only left with 0.175 Luck Value??'
'Her Luck Value is less than 1?'
'How could it be so low?'
She suddenly remembered how, right before she died in her past life, she had plundered 399 Luck Value from these people. Back then, the four of them were left with a combined Luck Value of only 1.
"..."
'Case closed. The four of them must have a combined Luck Value of 1 right now as well. That means they should each have 0.25 on average, but Tiana Lynch is a bit worse off, now down to 0.175.'
'Suddenly, I almost feel sorry for Tiana Lynch. Because this is just pathetic! HAHAHA!'
'I wonder who won't be surviving the apocalypse this time.'
Sue stared at Tiana Lynch's triumphant face and suddenly felt the urge to interact. She nodded. "I'm quite happy."
'Seriously, I'm thrilled! HAHAHA!!!'
'Being left with only 0.175 Luck Value... that's just too amusing!'
Tiana Lynch froze for a moment. She had thought that after her taunt, Sue would, as always, rush to defend herself, then start screaming and shouting at her. That would have allowed Tiana to continue playing the part of a fragile, innocent damsel, winning everyone's sympathy and their disgust for Sue.
But that didn't happen. Instead, Sue seemed genuinely happy, saying with utmost sincerity, "I'm quite happy."
'Quite happy?'
'How could you be? What in the world are you happy about, huh?'
However, she soon found out why Sue was happy, because Charles Shaw had brought all the documents.
"I suggest you all take a closer look." Charles Shaw adjusted his glasses, his fingertip tracing the investor information on the front page of the document. His voice was as clear as a bell. "The two core investments that have kept this company afloat were made by Mr. Vincent Lawrence and Mr. Elliot Lawrence, corresponding to 30% and 25% of the shares, respectively. Both gentlemen have already issued a full power of attorney, entrusting all property distribution and decision-making authority related to their shares to Ms. Sue Lawrence. Furthermore—"
He paused, his gaze sweeping over Jason Sterling, whose face had suddenly paled. He then continued with added emphasis, "Ms. Sue Lawrence herself holds another 25% of the company's shares through a personal capital injection. These three contracts have all been notarized, are fully legally binding, and can be verified with the commerce department at any time."
'Vincent Lawrence? Elliot Lawrence?'
The two names struck Jason Sterling like a pair of thunderbolts, making his entire body go stiff as his pupils contracted sharply.
'How could he not recognize them?!'
Vincent Lawrence was the head of the Lawrence Group, and Elliot Lawrence was the heir to the Lawrence Family. One was Sue's biological father, and the other was her full-blooded brother!
Memories came flooding back like a tidal wave, laced with sharp irony.
Years ago, when Sue had an unexpected pregnancy, the Lawrence Family had been so furious they threatened to disown her, ordering her to have an abortion and return to the family. But Sue was stubborn. She left with nothing to her name and moved into a dilapidated apartment complex in the suburbs, one with peeling paint on the walls.
He had calculated that without the Lawrence Family to back her, Sue was just an abandoned woman pregnant with some bastard child. Not only could she not bring him any resources or connections, she couldn't even support herself. Marrying a woman like that would only be a burden, with absolutely no value to be exploited.
But now—
