A doctor rushed into the hospital; he had been urgently summoned to attend to an accident case. Upon entering, he noticed that the family members of the injured boy were waiting for him with great impatience.
The moment he saw the doctor, the boy's father exclaimed, "Why don't you people perform your duties properly? Why did it take you so long to get here? If anything happens to my son, you will be held responsible!"
The doctor replied politely, "I am sorry; I was not at the hospital. As soon as I received the call, I rushed here as fast as I possibly could. Please calm down now so that I may proceed with the treatment."
"Calm down!" the boy's father shouted angrily. "Would *you* remain calm if it were *your* son lying there right now? What would you do if your own son died due to someone else's negligence?" The father continued to rant on.
"With God's grace, everything will turn out fine. Please offer your prayers; I am going in to perform the surgery," the doctor said, and with those words, he entered the operating theater.
Outside, the boy's father was still muttering to himself, "It is easy to offer advice; only the one who endures the suffering truly understands."
About an hour and a half later, the doctor emerged and, with a smile, announced, "Thank God—your son is now out of danger."
Upon hearing this, the boy's family members were overjoyed and began bombarding the doctor with questions: "How long will it take for him to make a full recovery? When will he be discharged?"
However, the doctor began to leave just as hurriedly as he had arrived, instructing the family to direct their questions to the nurse instead.
"Why is that doctor so arrogant? What is the rush that he couldn't spare even two minutes to answer our questions?" the boy's father remarked to the nurse. The nurse, on the verge of tears, said, "This morning, the doctor's son died in a horrific accident; when we called him, he was on his way to perform the funeral rites. And now, the poor man is returning to perform his beloved son's funeral after having just saved your child's life."
Upon hearing this, the boy's family members and his father were left stunned, and they realized the magnitude of their mistake.
