Evelyn Grant trembled at his fierce tone. The pain on her lips made her nerves tighten, and her tear-filled eyes shimmered. Sobbing, she clung to the man's neck, too scared to look at him. She slumped against him, trying to bury her head in the crook of his neck.
Preston Keaton grabbed her chin, forcing her face up. His expression was cold as he gripped her waist, his fingers digging in. His voice sent a chill down her spine. "Evelyn Grant, how dare you."
Those few words made her eyes turn even redder with fear.
'Hearing him use my full name is terrifying.'
Evelyn Grant understood the anger and gloom in his tone. Tears streamed down her face helplessly as she said in a soft, weak voice, "I... I forgot."
"Did you forget," his cold hand moved slowly from her chin to the damp corner of her eye, his overwhelming presence pressing down on her, "or were you throwing a tantrum with me?"
The girl in his arms looked aggrieved, keeping her mouth shut, too afraid to speak.
