Asher Keating faltered, his gaze locking on Mason Grant's with deep scrutiny.
"Don't worry. I'm sure of it even without the report. Her eyes... they're just like yours when you were young." Brandon Jacobs patted Mabel Grant's hand, which was linked through his arm and trembling slightly.
"Mm."
Mabel Grant fought back the lump in her throat and the bittersweet ache in her heart. If the circumstances hadn't been so inappropriate, she would have pulled Leah Sinclair away from it all in a heartbeat.
Announcing Leah Sinclair's identity wasn't the hard part. The problem was she didn't know how Leah felt. 'Abandoned by her mother for twenty-four years, never knowing a mother's love... she must resent me.'
This was no small matter; she had to find the right time. Taking a deep breath, she opened her eyes again, her expression once more a mask of serene indifference.
