Jace finally relented. Phoebe breathed a sigh of relief, but in the same breath, began to pity herself.
'Can I take it back?'
Caleb Calloway, who stood at the door and promised not to eavesdrop or peek, had in fact been doing both the entire time. When he saw that a man like Jace—who paid no mind to anything besides the few things he truly cared about—had actually been pestered into agreeing to reconcile, his eyes nearly popped out of his head.
'Sure enough,' he thought, 'you can't get on the wrong side of the woman in there.'
'But how long will this interest of his last?'
With Jace's agreement, Phoebe walked out and called Caleb Calloway inside.
"Director Calloway, you can handle the arrangements for the time and place, right? As for inviting Dr. Whitecoat, we'll have to be the ones to make the call." Phoebe didn't expect Jace to take the initiative and call Dr. Whitecoat himself, so she figured she would have to be the one to do it.
