Kitty heard her phone ring, but she hung up without even looking. The person kept calling, though, four or five times in a row. Just as Kitty was about to turn her phone off, Phoebe Faulkner stopped her. "Kitty, you should get that," she said. "I'm fine. I just felt like a total fool for being played like a fiddle, but I'm okay now."
"Don't overthink it. You didn't sleep with him, so you're the one with the advantage."
"Yeah, I know." Phoebe Faulkner managed a smile. "So, go on, answer your phone."
"Okay, I'll just take this call then."
Phoebe didn't know who was calling, but from the way Kitty looked while on the phone, it seemed like something urgent. Phoebe really was fine now, and she felt bad for holding Kitty up.
"Kitty, if you have something to do, you should go. I'll be fine here at home."
"But, you..." When it came down to it, Kitty was still worried.
"Don't worry. Like you said, I'm still innocent and untouched. I'm the one who came out on top."
