The racetrack was situated in the Mid-Levels of Port Calico. Built against the mountainside, it overlooked Queen's Harbor and was one of Port Calico's most exclusive social venues.
The setting sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the VIP viewing lounge, casting a golden glow over the men inside.
Henry Kingston was dressed casually, a glass of whiskey in hand. His gaze was fixed on the racetrack, as if awaiting the outcome of the race.
On the track, the horses were in their final sprint, and the stands erupted with a roar from the crowd.
As the first horse crossed the finish line, the most fervent cheer of the day erupted from the venue. An announcer's voice promptly crackled over the speakers: "Congratulations to horse number eight for taking first place!"
"Number eight," Jett Westgate said to Henry Kingston, his tone casual and nonchalant. "You won again."
