Zane Patterson got home especially early today. When he opened the front door, he froze.
The atmosphere in the living room was off.
Pippa was standing in the corner, facing the white wall, his small shoulders twitching as he cried his heart out.
Annelise Valentine sat on the sofa, arms crossed, her expression stern.
Zane walked closer. "Annelise, what's going on?"
Annelise tilted her chin up. "Pippa, tell your father yourself!"
Pippa sniffled. "I… I took the doggy to preschool… and kissed a girl in my class…"
"You took the dog to preschool," Zane slowly repeated, "and then kissed a female classmate?"
"More than one," Annelise added, her voice as calm as if she were reading a weather report. "He basically kissed every single girl in his class. The little girls were crying uncontrollably, and the teacher called me to come pick him up."
Zane was silent for three seconds, the corner of his mouth twitching.
Annelise's eyes narrowed. "Zane Patterson, don't you dare laugh."
