Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Class Change

"Lord, I want to be a Tailor."

"Lord, can I be a Blacksmith?"

"Lord, could you let me be a Carpenter?"

Zhao Chi nodded. "Of course, no problem. If you're sure, I'll help you change your Profession in a moment."

All three female villagers nodded.

Zhao Chi asked again, "Anyone else?"

The remaining villagers didn't speak.

Tang Ruan asked, "Lord, I want to be a professional Soldier."

Zhao Chi said, "Wait until tomorrow. After we clear the land outside and build the barracks, you'll be able to change your Profession to Soldier."

Tang Ruan nodded. "Okay! Then I'll be able to fight even better for you in the future."

"Lord, I want to be a Soldier, too."

"Yeah, me too. I want to go kill enemies."

"Lord, I'm willing to fight for you."

The remaining seven female villagers all wanted to become Soldiers.

He would just have to wait until tomorrow to change their Professions.

With so few people, there was no issue with the proportion of Soldiers.

Anyway, with this small a group, hunting a single animal would be enough to feed everyone.

Zhao Chi called over the three female villagers.

"The three of you, come over here. I'll change your Professions now, and then you can allocate your points after. You're the one who wants to be a Blacksmith, right?"

"Yes, that's right, Lord."

Zhao Chi clicked on the Profession change information in the system.

These Craftsman and Soldier roles were all standard Professions.

He could change their Professions directly.

As the corresponding Buildings were completed, the three Professions were also unlocked in the system.

They were only the Basic versions, however.

[Profession] Blacksmith

[Level] Basic

[Skills] Forging +5

[Attributes] Enhancement Points +5

There was a Bonus after changing Professions.

And the Bonus wasn't small.

Zhao Chi was currently an Intern Lord, and Gu Qing was an Initial Hero.

When Zhao Chi was promoted to Junior Lord and Gu Qing was promoted to Junior Hero, they would also receive an extra Bonus.

But that would take a few days.

Zhao Chi clicked the Profession change option, then selected the female villager.

A ray of light shot out from Zhao Chi.

It entered the female villager's body.

Just like leveling up, the female villager's Profession change was completed in an instant.

Zhao Chi continued with the others.

First was the Carpenter.

[Profession] Carpenter

[Level] Basic

[Skills] Woodworking +5

[Attributes] Enhancement Points +5

Soon, the change was complete.

Next was the Tailor.

[Profession] Tailor

[Level] Basic

[Skills] Sewing +5

[Attributes] Enhancement Points +5

All three female villagers had their Professions changed.

At this point, Zhao Chi took a look at their names.

[Junior Carpenter: Li Zhu]

[Junior Blacksmith: Ding Dang]

[Junior Tailor: Feng Xiu]

Basic Professions could be assigned directly.

But for High Level Craftsmen, breakthroughs mostly relied on accumulated Time.

The Professional Skills of these three Female Craftsmen had all increased by 5 points.

Normally, working full-time for a year would grant about 10 points in the corresponding Professional Skill.

Working full-time for half a year would grant 5 points.

In other words, these three Female Craftsmen now had the equivalent of half a year of work experience.

They were more professional than ordinary people.

When crafting, they also had a 5% professional Effect Bonus.

Zhao Chi's own Professional Skills were: 10 points in Swordsmanship, 10 points in Shield Skill.

This meant he had the equivalent of one year's experience using a sword and one year's experience using a shield.

When using a sword or a Shield, his Effect would be increased by 10%.

But this time was just a reference.

If one had good Talent, the value would increase quickly.

If one's Talent was poor, or if they slacked off, the value would increase slowly.

Next, it was time to allocate points for the three Female Craftsmen.

As for Craftsmen...

They pursued the four principles of "More, Faster, Better, and Cheaper."

There were many suitable Branch Attributes:

[Add Physical Strength] Able to work for long periods with very little rest. The model "996" employee. This fits "More."

[Add Energy] Reduces sleep time and allows for long periods of concentration, improving Quality. This fits "More" and "Better."

[Add Attack Speed] Attack Speed isn't just helpful in combat; it also makes one's hands quicker during crafting. This fits "Faster."

[Add Accuracy] Craft more precisely, ensuring consistent Mass and reducing Material waste. This fits "Better" and "Cheaper."

[Add Spiritual Power] Can be converted into Physical Strength and Energy at any time. This could be considered to fit "More."

[Add Learning] Gain more experience, level up faster, and improve Skills faster. Perhaps this fits "Faster?" or "Cheaper?"

[Add Efficiency] The most common Attribute for a Craftsman. It increases efficiency, saving Physical Strength and Energy, and also speeds up crafting. This fits "Faster" and "Cheaper."

[Add Perception] A very mysterious Attribute. Perception includes the five senses, plus inspiration and awareness. It allows one to occasionally create items of very high Mass. This fits "Better."

There were other Attributes that also had a small impact, but not as significant as these.

The three Female Craftsmen were all Level 1 and had 1 Enhancement Point each.

Adding the 5 points from changing Professions, they had 6 points in total.

Zhao Chi tried to activate his "Transplantation" Talent, but it failed.

So, he had no choice but to choose for them.

It was a difficult choice.

They were all useful; no matter how he allocated the points, it wouldn't be a mistake.

It was just a matter of which was more suitable for the current situation.

Even if he made a mistake, it wouldn't be a big problem.

There would be items to reset them later on.

Zhao Chi really wanted to increase their Learning Attribute to develop them faster.

But this wasn't suitable for a New Lord. It was better for established old Lords to focus on that kind of development.

Right now, the priority was to produce goods and develop as quickly as possible.

In the end, Zhao Chi chose "Efficiency" for all three of them.

Once their Efficiency was higher, he could add points to other Attributes.

A complementary approach was best.

The main Attribute corresponding to Efficiency was Intelligence.

Their Intelligence was 6 points each, so every Enhancement Point could increase Efficiency by 6%. With 6 Enhancement Points, their Efficiency increased by a total of 36%.

Instructor Li Ruanyu had taught him this.

The "Efficiency Attribute" and "actual efficiency" were two different things.

It wasn't a direct increase.

For example, if the Efficiency Attribute increased by 50%, in reality, crafting time or Consumption of Attributes like Physical Strength would be reduced by 33%.

An Efficiency increase of 100% would result in an actual savings of 50%.

An Efficiency increase of 200% would result in an actual savings of 66%.

An Efficiency increase of 300% would result in an actual savings of 75%.

It was impossible to ever achieve instant or zero-Consumption crafting.

The 36% Efficiency boost for the three Female Craftsmen corresponded to an increase in actual efficiency of about 26.5%.

This wasn't low at all.

Soon, the point allocation was complete.

The three Female Craftsmen had all become Junior Craftsmen with half a year of crafting experience, a 5% increase in crafting Effect, and a 36% increase in their Efficiency Attribute.

All three Female Craftsmen could feel the change in themselves.

It wasn't just physical.

It was also in their Inner Heart.

It was a kind of professional confidence.

Zhao Chi saw that they were all trembling—trembling with excitement.

The Tailor, Feng Xiu, said excitedly, "Lord... I... I want to go make something right now."

The Blacksmith, Ding Dang, and the Carpenter, Li Zhu, both said the same thing.

Zhao Chi smiled. "You can. Those three Buildings are yours to manage. You can use the Materials directly."

The three Female Craftsmen thanked Zhao Chi.

Hoisting lumber, carrying Iron Ingots, and hugging bolts of cloth, they all rushed into their respective workshops.

Zhao Chi hadn't even given them any orders yet; he didn't know what their hurry was.

Sure enough, a moment later, the three of them came running back out.

"Lord, what should we make?"

Zhao Chi laughed.

"Feng Xiu, make clothes first. Replace everyone's outfits.

"Ding Dang, you make tools. We don't have enough right now, so make some more.

"Li Zhu, make some Arrows. We have too few at the moment, and we can use them for hunting or fighting later."

"Understood!"

The three Female Craftsmen ran back once again.
