Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Initial Race

Zhao Chi now had a Hidden Talent.

When it came to choosing a Race, his freedom was much greater.

He opened the system.

He clicked on the territory interface.

He clicked on the Race tab.

[No initial Race has been set. You may set one for free. Set now?]

He clicked [Yes].

Instantly, a screen appeared before Zhao Chi's eyes.

On the screen, there were a total of 5 selectable Races.

[Human] [Beastman] [Elf] [Skeleton] [Goblin]

These 5 were all starting Races.

Free to choose.

After his territory was developed, he could also obtain other Races through capture, purchase, or other methods.

Some students from wealthy families could also get support from their family or clan.

They could obtain some High Tier or Rare Races right from the start.

But Zhao Chi couldn't.

Although he also had a family.

His family was very small.

The family lived in a village in the suburbs of Snowfield City. There were 3 relatively large families in the village, and Zhao Chi's was a marginal one.

Moreover, his parents were dead, so even fewer people cared about him.

But Zhao Chi didn't complain at all.

After all, his current house was built with money from the family.

His tuition was also sponsored by the family.

Even for his living expenses, the family had provided him with considerable support.

Although it was inevitable that some people would gossip.

But Zhao Chi couldn't care less.

'Getting the money is what's real. Let them talk. It's not like their words can hurt me.'

Once he could earn money, he would repay the family several times over.

'I can't forget their kindness in raising me.'

As for those who gossiped, Zhao Chi simply ignored them.

Bringing his thoughts back to the present, Zhao Chi carefully examined the 5 starting Races before him.

He knew the pros and cons of each Race like the back of his hand.

Human:

[Race] Human

[Lifespan] 100 years

[Height] 170 cm

[Body Weight] 65 kg

[Appearance] 5 (Pleasant features)

[Attributes] 20 points (Good)

[Constitution] 5 (Average)

[Power] 5 (Average)

[Agility] 5 (Average)

[Intelligence] 5 (Average)

[Newcomers] 5 people per day

[Talent] Farming (Crop harvest +10%)

Human Attributes are very balanced.

After all, the data system was based on Humans.

The Human Race's Attributes are all 5 points.

Very balanced.

They can do anything, but they aren't particularly strong at anything.

These are just the "Racial Attributes."

There are still differences between individuals.

Some people's Attributes can be as low as 2-3 points, while others can be as high as 7-8 points.

But most people average 4-5 points.

It's 4 points without training, and 5 points with training.

In other words, 5 points is the true potential of a Human.

It's the same for Height and Body Weight.

Average Height is 170 cm, and average Body Weight is 65 kg.

Males are a bit taller and heavier, females a bit less.

There are differences between individuals.

If he chose Human as his starting Race.

Every day, 5 refugees would arrive from outside the territory, and he could have them join.

Humans can also reproduce through natural childbirth.

But that method is very slow.

The Human Race comes with a farming Talent.

It's considered a support Talent.

'As for Appearance, there's nothing wrong with Humans considering themselves to have pleasant features on average, is there…'

Zhao Chi turned his attention.

He looked at the second Race.

Beastman:

[Race] Beastman

[Lifespan] 200 years

[Height] 190 cm

[Body Weight] 90 kg

[Appearance] 3 (Ferocious)

[Attributes] 20 points (Good)

[Constitution] 6 (Commendable)

[Power] 6 (Commendable)

[Agility] 4 (Unremarkable)

[Intelligence] 4 (Unremarkable)

[Newcomers] 5 people per day

[Talent] Bellicose (Morale +10%)

It was a starting Race, after all.

These Beastmen were also low-tier Beastmen.

High-Tier Beastmen would have even greater Power and Constitution.

But these Beastmen were already very strong in close combat.

They were the strongest among the starting Races.

Their Constitution and Power were 6 points.

Although it was only 1 point higher than Humans, that 1 point was equivalent to 1 Level.

1 point was equivalent to the difference in strength between a man and a woman.

It was like if Beastmen came to human society, every one of them could be a school bully or a street thug.

Just like the Human Race, these were just average Attributes.

There were also differences between individuals.

"Intelligence" was not completely equivalent to "IQ."

In this world, Intelligence was more like mental processing power.

High Intelligence meant faster Learning.

It allowed one to gain more experience.

Breaking through Skill levels was also faster.

But it couldn't be used to judge if someone was stupid or not.

'It's a lot like a game setting.'

That's why Zhao Chi always felt like this was a game world.

Besides having Attributes suited for close combat, their Racial Talent was Bellicose, giving them high Morale.

The Talent and Attributes were a perfect match.

Beastmen were a Race naturally suited for close combat.

Similarly, Beastmen could also gain 5 refugees per day.

They could also reproduce through pregnancy in female Beastmen.

But this method was also very slow.

Human gestation is 10 months, while for Beastmen it's a full year.

The Beastman Appearance was only 3 points, which was very low.

But that was from a Human's perspective.

If you asked a Beastman, they'd think they had pleasant features, and that the pale faces of Humans were ugly.

Zhao Chi looked at the Race in the middle.

Elf:

[Race] Elf

[Lifespan] 1000 years

[Height] 170 cm

[Body Weight] 60 kg

[Appearance] 6 (Naturally beautiful)

[Attributes] 20 points (Good)

[Constitution] 4 (Unremarkable)

[Power] 4 (Unremarkable)

[Agility] 6 (Commendable)

[Intelligence] 6 (Commendable)

[Newcomers] 5 people per day

[Talent] Lightness (Fall Damage -30%)

Similar to the Beastmen, these Elves were also low-tier Elves.

High Elves would have even higher Agility and Intelligence.

Among the starting Races, Elves had the longest Lifespan.

A whole 1000 years.

A long Lifespan meant a long Time for Learning.

If they could live for a few hundred years, they would become proficient in all sorts of Skills.

However, Elves were quite fragile.

In prolonged combat, very few could survive for several hundred years.

Besides their Constitution, their Power was also only 4 points.

This meant they were slightly weaker in close combat.

That's why most Elves used a Bow and Arrow.

Combined with their Talent: Lightness.

It could drastically reduce fall Damage.

This made them extremely well-suited for fighting in forests.

Moreover, the Appearance of Elves was very much in line with Human aesthetics.

On average, they could reach the level of being "naturally beautiful."

Many Female Elves were often captured by Humans.

Just to satisfy their beastly desires.

Elves also had 5 refugees appearing each day.

In addition, Elves could also be born from the fruits of the Tree of Life after they ripened.

But this cycle was even slower.

Zhao Chi looked at the fourth Race.

Skeleton:

[Race] Skeleton

[Lifespan] 20 years

[Height] 165 cm

[Body Weight] 15 kg

[Appearance] 1 (Grim and terrifying)

[Attributes] 15 points (Poor)

[Constitution] 4 (Unremarkable)

[Power] 4 (Unremarkable)

[Agility] 4 (Unremarkable)

[Intelligence] 3 (Insignificant)

[Reinforcements] 10 per day

[Talent] Fearless (Morale will not break)

The Skeleton's Attributes were very low.

Only 15 points.

Their Lifespan was also very short; they only existed for 20 years.

Skeletons' Morale would not break.

You could say they were fearless in the face of any enemy.

They could fight to the last man—or bone.

In many battles, after the other Races routed and fled, only Skeletons were left fighting on the battlefield.

From this perspective, the Skeletons' combat Ability was very strong.

Moreover, you could get 10 Skeletons per day.

Twice as many as the other Races.

Although individual Skeletons were weak, they could win through numbers.

And with greater numbers, they could execute more tactical coordination, allowing for more diverse combat styles.

Skeletons didn't increase their numbers through refugees.

Instead, they crawled out from the ground.

The Skeleton Race also had a major disadvantage: they couldn't perform production.

They couldn't farm, and they couldn't do Forging.

But they could capture and enslave other Races through combat.

They could make other Races handle production and construction.

Needless to say, their Appearance was just grim, white bones.

Some people didn't mind and even found it cool.

But other people were terrified.

Overall, they had no real Appearance to speak of.

Zhao Chi looked at the last Race.

Goblin:

[Race] Goblin

[Lifespan] 40 years

[Height] 140 cm

[Body Weight] 30 kg

[Appearance] 3 (Shifty-looking)

[Attributes] 17 points (Ordinary)

[Constitution] 4 (Unremarkable)

[Power] 4 (Unremarkable)

[Agility] 6 (Commendable)

[Intelligence] 3 (Insignificant)

[Newcomers] 7 people per day

[Talent] Flexible (Evasion +10%)

Goblins were similar to 10-year-old Humans.

But they were much stronger than a Human of the same size.

Although their total Attributes were only 17 points.

Their Agility was on the same level as the Elves.

Their bodies were very flexible.

Their Racial Talent also reflected this, directly increasing Evasion by 10%.

Goblins could be supplemented with 7 per day.

Also in the form of refugees.

They could also reproduce naturally. Although still slow, it was much faster than for Humans.

A new one could be born in about 3 months.

Excluding Skeletons, this was the starting Race with the highest number of daily reinforcements.

However, Goblins could produce and craft, which made them much better than Skeletons.

It's just that the Quality of their finished products was slightly lower.

Although Goblins were numerous, their Combat Will was very poor.

When they had the advantage, they would swarm their enemies.

When they were at a disadvantage, their Morale would easily collapse.

So it was best to only fight when they had the upper hand.

As long as they could maintain a numerical advantage, fighting wasn't too difficult.

Goblins' Appearance was also disliked by Humans.

So their Appearance score was very low.

Both were 3 points, but the Beastman's evaluation was "Ferocious."

While the Goblin's was "Shifty-looking."
