「An hour and a half later.」
Stella Sterling's phone chimed with an incoming video call.
The camera connected, and Sylvia Sterling appeared on the screen, her face flushed and her expression languid.
"What's with the pout? You're pouting so hard I could hang a kettle from your lip."
Stella gestured dramatically. "I've been waiting for you for one hour and thirty-seven minutes."
Sylvia smiled placatingly. "My fault. Something came up and I got delayed."
At twenty-eight, Sylvia's voice was clear and tinged with a coquettish charm.
Her face bore a strong resemblance to Stella's.
The sisters both had the same almond-shaped eyes, but Sylvia's had been shaped to be almost perfectly straight. At first glance, this gave her expression a certain sharpness.
Stella pursed her lips, her eyes widening as she scanned the background. "Sis, where are you?"
Sylvia adjusted the camera angle and said flatly, "A hotel."
"Which hotel?"
"Kids shouldn't ask so many questions."
Stella deflated.
