'But where did this kind of love come from?'
"Sean Quinn..." she murmured, gently stroking his cheek.
"What is it?" he asked, opening his eyes. They were overflowing with a heart-stopping tenderness.
"What... what is it you like about me?" she asked, thinking back. "I remember our previous encounters were never very pleasant. I figured you must have really hated me..."
And she was right.
Sean Quinn thought for a moment, stroking her hair. He sighed softly. "You were always doing things that let me down. I was frustrated with you, angry at your wasted potential."
"Angry at my wasted potential?" She mulled over his words. "That's usually something an elder says to someone younger. We barely knew each other back then, so why would you have any expectations for me? And besides, if you found me so disappointing, why do you like me now?"
But he said no more, his gaze darting away.
She pressed him. "What, is that such a hard question to answer?"
