Same voice.
But not the same presence.
"You said you completed the system," Kay said.
"Who are you really?"
The figure didn't move.
"I'm you," he replied.
"The version that didn't step back."
Kay frowned.
"That's not possible."
"It is inside the Core," the figure said.
"This place keeps more than memories."
Kay understood slowly.
"You copied yourself…"
"Not exactly," the figure answered.
"You left part of your mind here."
Kay stayed silent.
"When you tried to stop the system," the figure continued,
"you couldn't do it alone."
"So I created you?" Kay asked.
"You created a solution," the figure said.
"I became it."
Kay shook his head.
"No… you became the problem."
The figure didn't react.
"The system needed balance," he said.
"You hesitated. I didn't."
Kay stepped closer.
"You removed everything that made people human."
"I removed what caused instability."
Kay's voice sharpened.
"You removed choice."
The figure looked at him.
"Choice created chaos."
Kay didn't agree.
"Choice is what makes life real," he said.
A short pause.
Then the figure said:
"And that's why you failed."
Kay didn't respond immediately.
Behind them, the system started changing again.

Time was moving.
Kay looked at the Core around him.
Then back at the figure.
"So what now?" Kay asked.
The figure answered clearly:
"You don't belong here anymore."
Kay narrowed his eyes.
"And you're going to remove me?"
The figure didn't deny it.
"You're unstable," he said.
"You carry memories that shouldn't exist."
Kay took a step forward.
"And you're afraid of them."
For the first time—
The figure paused.
"Memories create variables," he said.
Kay gave a small smile.
