Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Mark of the Forgotten

The smoke hadn't cleared yet.

The remains of the ship still burned behind Kael, crackling sounds echoing across the broken docks. The night felt heavier than before… like something had noticed him.

Kael stood there, breathing slowly.

His body felt strange.

Unstable.

That symbol on his shoulder… it burned faintly under his skin.

"…What the hell is this…" he muttered.

(Step.)

Kael froze.

(Step… step…)

Someone was approaching.

Not rushing.

Not hiding.

Walking… like they owned the place.

From the shadows, a man appeared.

Dark coat.

Cold eyes.

No hesitation in his steps.

Behind him… a few armed men.

Not pirates.

Not slaves.

Something else.

"…So it's true," the man said calmly.

Kael narrowed his eyes.

"Name," the man added.

Kael didn't answer.

Instead—

He shifted his stance slightly.

Ready.

"…You don't talk much," the man sighed.

Then his gaze moved—

To Kael's shoulder.

Where the fabric had been slightly torn.

And beneath it…

The mark.

The symbol.

The tattoo.

💀

Everything changed.

The man's expression hardened instantly.

"…So you're one of them."

Silence.

Kael frowned.

"…One of who?"

No answer.

The man raised his hand slightly.

The soldiers behind him tensed.

"…Capture him."

💀

(WHOOSH.)

They moved.

Fast.

Too fast.

Kael barely reacted—

(CLASH.)

Steel met his arm as he blocked instinctively.

Pain shot through him.

"…Tch—"

Another one came from the side.

Then another.

Kael stepped back.

Dodged one—

Got hit by another.

(THUD.)

His body slid across the ground.

"…Damn it…"

He stood up quickly.

Too many.

And they were trained.

Not like the ones before.

"…You're not normal," Kael muttered.

The man didn't move.

Just watching.

Analyzing.

"…Of course not," he replied. "We don't deal with normal people."

💀

One soldier rushed again.

Kael dodged—

Countered—

(PUNCH.)

The man flew back.

But—

Another blade cut across Kael's side.

(SLASH.)

Blood.

Kael froze for a second.

"…Shit…"

His breathing got heavier.

His movements… slower.

Uncontrolled.

The power inside him… unstable.

Sometimes fast.

Sometimes late.

"…You don't even know how to use it," the man said coldly.

Kael clenched his teeth.

"…Use what?"

No answer.

The man stepped forward.

Finally.

Slow.

Confident.

"…You people are always the same."

💀

In a flash—

He appeared in front of Kael.

(THUD.)

Kael didn't even see it.

His body was already flying.

(CRASH.)

He slammed into broken wood.

Coughing blood.

"…Fast…" Kael whispered.

No.

Not fast.

Skilled.

Precise.

Controlled.

Kael tried to stand—

His legs trembled.

"…Get up," the man said.

Kael glared at him.

"…Don't order me…"

He forced himself up.

Barely.

The man looked at him for a second.

Then—

"…That mark on your shoulder."

Silence.

"…You don't know what it means… do you?"

Kael froze.

Just for a moment.

"…Speak clearly," Kael said.

The man smiled faintly.

"…Good."

A pause.

"…That means I can kill you without guilt."

💀

(BOOM.)

He moved again.

This time—

Faster.

Stronger.

Kael tried to react—

Too late.

(PUNCH.)

Direct.

Clean.

Kael's vision exploded.

His body lifted off the ground.

Then—

Another hit.

And another.

And another.

💀

No rhythm.

No control.

Just destruction.

Kael couldn't keep up.

Couldn't read him.

Couldn't fight back.

(THUD.)

He dropped to his knees.

Breathing heavily.

Blood dripping.

"…Pathetic," the man said.

Silence.

Kael's hand tightened.

"…I…"

His body trembled.

"…won't…"

He tried to stand again.

Failed.

Fell.

💀

The man walked closer.

"…You people always think you're special."

A pause.

"…You're not."

He raised his hand.

"…Just leftovers from a failed era."

💀

Kael's eyes widened slightly.

"…What…?"

But his body didn't move.

Didn't respond.

Finished.

Broken.

The man stood above him.

"…End of the line."

He prepared the final blow.

💀

Kael's vision blurred.

Darkness creeping in.

"…So this is it…"

Silence.

No power.

No strength.

No control.

Just—

End.

And then—

(Slice.)

💀

Something cut the air.

Fast.

Sharp.

Deadly.

The man stepped back instantly.

His eyes narrowed.

"…Who—"

(Step.)

A new presence.

Light.

Calm.

Deadly.

A figure landed between them.

Back turned to Kael.

A sword in hand.

Blue hair moving slightly with the wind.

💀

"…You're late," she said calmly.

Not to the man.

To Kael.

💀

Kael's eyes widened slightly.

"…What…?"

She didn't turn.

Didn't explain.

Just said—

"…We've been looking for you."

💀💀💀
