The sound of footsteps and low murmured voices were the first things that trickled in, before I sensed the number of people in the chamber.

My eyes snapped open, and I turned to stare at the servants in the chamber. I instinctively sat up, clutching the covers to my chest.
I froze when I noticed that some of the servants were men, and two were attending to Fashire.
Every servant immediately stopped what they were doing and bowed in my direction. "Your Majesty."
Not really knowing what to say, I nodded, my attention immediately drifting to Fashire, who stood near the other end of the bed, one of the servants adjusting his sleeve. His head turned, and everything came crashing back when those silver eyes found mine.
I had kissed him first.
My face flooded with heat as more fragments surfaced, each one worse than the last. A slow chill crept down my back when I did not remember him stopping.
Had I lost consciousness just like that?
