Her shoulders stiffened. But she didn't turn.
I stepped closer, my irritation sharpening. "I asked you a question."
She turned.
The sunlight fell across her face, warming the brown of her eyes and the stubborn set of her jaw.

My mood soured even further. There were many beautiful women in this realm. She was nothing special.
I hadn't been able to look at her since. It had been nice not having to worry about the details of that damned dream bleed through my consciousness. And now here she was, standing before me.
The absolute gall of this creature to send servants telling me she'd actually kill herself if I didn't grant her permission to leave.
"I am not mad." That same stubbornness was starting to seep into her gaze.
I scoffed, taking a step closer. "Typical that they would fall for a ruse as obvious as that. You have too much fight in your eyes to even take your own life."
