Kafu stood at the edge of his domain, watching as his followers prepared for the journey ahead. Ten of them—Elara, Theron, Vex, Kael, Mira, Doran, Lys, Fen, Cora, and Valen—had already begun their breakthrough processes, their bodies surrounded by cocoons of golden light as they transitioned from Dantian Genesis to Realm Lord. The remaining two, Soren and Rhea, trained with renewed determination, their eyes fixed on the path ahead.
Makena appeared beside him, her hand finding his.
"It's time?"
"The RVC screening. Today's the day."
She smiled. "You're ready. More than ready."
He hoped she was right.

The RVC outpost in Aethelgard was even more impressive than Kafu remembered. The spire of crystal and metal seemed to pierce the clouds, its surface covered in arrays that hummed with power. Guards at the entrance recognized him immediately and waved him through.
The 47th floor looked different this time. The waiting room was empty, the other candidates long since processed or eliminated. Only Kafu remained.
The door opened, and Councilor Varn stepped out, his kind eyes widening slightly as he took in Kafu's aura.

Kafu smiled slightly. "I kept my promises."
"I... see." Varn studied him for a long moment, then nodded. "Come with me. The preliminary screening is... no longer necessary. You've clearly surpassed it."
He led Kafu through a series of corridors, past offices and training rooms and observation decks, until they reached a door marked only with a single symbol: ∞.
"What is this place?"
"The office of my superior. She'll want to meet you personally." Varn paused with his hand on the door. "Kafu, I've been a recruiter for the RVC for three thousand years. I've seen prodigies. I've seen geniuses. I've seen beings who rose from nothing to become legends. But I have never—never—seen anyone progress the way you have." He opened the door. "Whatever you're doing, don't stop."

The room beyond was vast—an observation deck overlooking what appeared to be an entire universe in miniature. Stars swirled, galaxies spun, and at its center, a woman sat in meditation, her eyes closed, her presence so vast that Kafu's Law Venerable aura felt like a candle before a sun.

"I don't usually meet with candidates below Void Knight," she said, circling him slowly. "But Varn insisted. And now I see why." She stopped before him. "Do you know what the Observer's Circle is?"
Kafu shook his head.
"It's a secret organization within the RVC. We recruit only the absolute best—cultivators who have reached Void Knight, or who have been designated Absolute Genius at Genesis Lord or above." She paused. "You qualify for the second category."
"Absolute Genius?"
"It's a title. Rare. Prestigious. It means that regardless of your current realm, you have the potential to reach heights that most can only dream of." She smiled—a cold, beautiful expression. "I've only designated three Absolute Geniuses in the past ten thousand years. You would be the fourth."
Kafu's heart raced. "What does that mean for me?"
"It means direct mentorship from someone at my level. It means resources beyond anything the regular RVC can offer. It means protection from organizations like the Silver Lotus—because anyone who touches an Absolute Genius answers to the Observer's Circle." Her eyes glittered. "And we do not forgive."
Kafu thought of the Silver Lotus, of their assassins, of their inevitable retaliation. Protection from them—real protection—would change everything.
"What do I have to do?"
"Complete the next two seals. Prove that your first success wasn't luck. Reach Void Knight within a 1000 years." Or less.She held up a hand. "I know that sounds impossible. But your progress suggests you're capable of the impossible."
"And if I succeed?"
"Then you become my personal disciple. You gain access to the Observer's Circle. And you become one of the most protected cultivators in existence."
Kafu looked at Makena, who had followed him into the room and was watching with wide eyes. He looked at his followers, waiting outside. He thought of his promise, of the path ahead, of all the challenges yet to come.
"I accept."
Loriel smiled—a real smile this time, warm and genuine.
"Good. Now tell me about these seals."

Kafu spent the next hour explaining everything—the Thirteen Seals, their locations, their challenges, his success with the first. Loriel listened without interrupting, her expression shifting from curiosity to surprise to something approaching awe.

"Challenging how?"

Kafu nodded slowly. "Then I'll need to be certain of my path."
"You'll need more than certainty. You'll need guidance." She reached into her robes and produced a small crystal, which she tossed to him. "This is a Pathfinder Crystal. It won't show you the right path—nothing can—but it will show you which paths are definitely wrong. Use it wisely."
