The scene shifts to Toma sitting quietly on a chair near the hospital building. Her hands rest on her lap. But her fingers are slightly trembling. Aiden stands beside her, watching her carefully.
"Why were you crying just now?" Aiden asks.
Toma doesn't answer. She stays silent, her eyes unfocused, as if her mind was in a different place. Her mind keeps replaying everything. The dance she and Nobody shared under the lights. The ice cream they ate together while laughing at the park. That small moment on the train when they first met. And then… the last moment. The sound of the gunshot. The way he stood in front of her. The blood.
Her chest tightens. Her lips part slightly.
"Why… why… Nobody…" she whispers, her voice breaking as tears gather in her eyes.
—
A few moments later, the scene shifts to a street.
Mr.Nobody walks casually, one hand in his pocket, the other slightly raised as he looks at his arm. There's a bandage wrapped around it.
He glances toward us. "Be honest, guys, does this look convincing enough? Or is Toma going to think I'm fooling her?"
He turns his arm slightly, looking at it. "Yeah, I know. This isn't exactly right, lying to the female lead like that." He sighs. "But what choice do I have? If the writers find out I've got healing from the system, I'm done for. Erased. Gone."
He shrugs lightly. "So this is kinda necessary."
"Anyway, back to the story."
—
He reaches the hospital, planning to check on Toma, but the moment he asks around, his expression changes.
"She got discharged… an hour ago?"
He freezes. "What?"
Walking back outside, he runs a hand through his hair. "So Aiden took her, huh." He exhales. "Wow. This sucks man. He's probably acting like he's the one who saved her too."
He pauses for a second, then suddenly claps his hands lightly. "You know what, let's just go eat something.
Near him, there was a pastry shop named 'Emerald Bakeries'.
"That pastry shop looked good."
—
Moments later, he pushes open the door of the shop.
And stops.
Toma is sitting there.
For a second, neither of them moves.
Then her eyes widen.
"Nobody…!"
Nobody was utterly speechless seeing her at the exact shop he had just gone to.
She stands up so fast her chair almost tips over and before he can react, she runs toward him. Tears fill her eyes as she reaches him. "You're alive! I was so worried about you!" Her gaze drops to his arm. "Is your arm alright?"
Mr.Nobody stiffens slightly, then forces a casual smile, his eyes shifting upward for a moment. "Yeah, it's fine. I am alright. The bullet just grazed the side of my arm. Not a big deal."
Toma looks at him closely. "Then… why don't you look surprised to see me here?"
For a split second, he panics. His shoulders lift slightly, hands moving awkwardly. "Ah… that's because… I.. I... heard from Aiden that you were rescued and taken to the hospital."
Toma watches him, a hint of suspicion in her eyes as she notices his uneasiness.
"Humm," she looked doubtfully at him.
But after a moment, she lets it go.
Instead, she smiles softly.
"Well… we're both fine. That's what matters." She gestures toward the table. "So, I'm treating you today. Let's have some pastries."
Mr.Nobody's eyes light up. "Wait, really?"
He quickly glances toward us and lowers his voice.
"Hey, don't shout at me, guys. I'm not that shameless or anything. It's just I'm… really hungry right now."
He rubs the back of his head.
"It's been a while since that wedding event's cupcake, you know. I don't usually get to eat stuff like this."
—
The scene shifts to both of them sitting together, eating pastries. The pastries were looking very yummy. Toma seems relaxed, smiling as she eats, while Mr.Nobody looks far more focused on the food.
Behind the counter, a woman who seemed to be a relative of Toma watches them with interest.
"Is he your friend?" she asks Toma.
Toma nods without hesitation. "Yes. A very good friend."
Mr.Nobody paused mid-bite and glanced slightly to the side and looked at us. "Guys, don't get angry at me. It's not like I'm trying to woo her over or anything. She just seems… interested in me he he." He shrugs lightly. "Anyway, I'll talk to you later, guys."
Toma frowns a little. "Who are you talking to?"
He freezes for a second, then quickly shakes his head. "It's nothing."
And just like that, the moment continues.
