Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Giant Kings Court

Amanises and I departed northwest—towards the border of the eastern continent.

It would have been great had I only left one of the attendant mysteries' characteristics, but for now we walked on legs.

This journey would have taken least half a month if a normal human was covering it but since we were two angels capable of running at 3 to 5 km/s, it could be covered in just 5 days with a little rest

As we were running, Amanises asked, "Since we have a long way to go, tell me about these great old ones."

I nodded and spoke, "This world is currently being protected by the Will of the Oldest One, the very being we are all part of.

When the oldest one broke into countless fragments, He divided himself into 3 core beings: Son of Chaos, Mother Tree of Desire, and Mother Goddess of Depravity.

As I took the name of the Mother Goddess, the white moon, which was barely visible, began to glow blood red.

"You see, that bitch took notice of us."

Amanises giggled a little. "Bitch??"

I nodded and continued, "Then the Oldest One merged with the Mother Goddess of Depravity to create the Goddess of Fate and the Circle of Inevitability, and with a similar process, other Great Old Ones were created with the exception of the Primordial God Almighty, who ruled this place before, and the Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth, who technically ruled the Western Continent."

Amanises asked, "So how are the exceptions created?"

I answered, "They are a personality of the Oldest One. As for Who they truly are,

Lord of Mysteries;

King of Space-Time, Beacon of Destiny,

Embodiment of Sefirah Castle;

Dominator of the Spirit World"

Amanises nodded and I continued

"God Almighty,

Creator; Maker;

The Omnipotent and Omniscient.

Lord of the Astral World."

Amanises sighed as 'She' rubbed her temple. "The author sure did a wonder in this novel: this in-depth lore. But all this sucks once you are a part of this world."

I nodded and said, "Lord of Mysteries was one of the popular novels on Webnovel, and as you can see, it lives up to its heights."

Amanises pondered for a moment and spoke, "I must say, all of us are quite lucky. Had you not been reincarnated here, both Grisha and I would have had to do a lot more for the same information, and as for you, even though your novel information is quite useless, you got lucky that it's the second epoch, not the fifth; otherwise, you might have tagged the novel with "menpreg."

"It's not useless," I said in an attempt to correct her.

"Yeah, yeah."

"That said, I am quite lucky. You know I chanted Evernight's name first when I reincarnated."

"Huh, what was that??"

I looked at Amanises, who was starstruck, with an aghast expression.

I looked at her. "Yeah, what?"

"What kind of love confession was that??"

I looked at her with a weird expression.

"The fuck do you mean love confession? Let me remind you, Evernight was a great goddess and helped Klein a lot; you haven't even..."

It suddenly clicked for me; right, she is the Evernight Goddess. It seems that I have separated the eternal and kind goddess and Amanises as different entities.

"Right... Well, for my own sanity, I think you and my goddess are different, and I will keep it that way. I don't think I can see you as Evernigth , Even if you are the same beings"

"Whatever." Amanises seemed rather cringed about this whole topic and wanted to change the subject.

"Just a piece of advice: it's best if you can get used to being praised like a goddess or stuff like that, even if it's cringe. My own image or other subjects' images will heavily decide whether you live to see another day as yourself or as Eternal Darkness."

"Ahhh, dammit, I want the clown potion now. Look at you; there is no hint of the weird guy from before; it's the cool and serious guy."

"Haa, Haa." Both Amanises and I bantered for the rest of the journey.

********************************

Half through the journey we stop at a town near the end of Aurmir's domain

Bustling humans and giants alike, with little to no discrimination.

We stopped by a tavern run by a giant.

"Salutations, Sir Giant!!"

Amanises and I spoke in unison.

The giant smiled and said, "Names, Galtweel."

Both nodded.

Both of us took Aurmir's favorite wine; in the 5th epoch, this would have been very expensive, but due to the way Aurmir was, this was as common as water or food.

Amanises, who missed the sensation of the liquor, chugged it straight.

"Ahh, it's been so long; it's unfortunate that I can only taste it and not get intoxicated."

I, who was savoring mine, spoke as I took a sip

"With the speed that you're going, I might have to carry you all the way to the Giant King's Court."

Amanises countered as she ordered another glass.

"Aww, you will do that for me."

I think you are getting intoxicated quite well, actually.

Who would have thought that one of the most horrifying goddesses of the 3rd epoch would be drinking like a child?

"It seems you have retained quite a bit of your humanity, seeing as how you're enjoying yourself."

Amanises quickly retorted, "Just a day wouldn't hurt; even you said, it's best to act like a human to remain a human."

Well, I couldn't counter that and just sipped my wine. It truly was good; unfortunately, I was not a connoisseur and thus could not describe its flavor, but on a general note, it had a sweet touch to it that burst with a good amount of heat in the throat.

As Amanises finished her third glass, I spoke. "That reminds me, I think buying this as a gift of sorts won't hurt now, would it?"

Amanises nodded with great pleasure.

Having finished my own glass I stood up towards the Giant Bartender Galtweel

And said, "Say, Mr. Galtweel, could I inquire about this place?"

Galtweel, while pouring a drink for other customers, nodded and

I continued, "How can one visit the Giant King's Court?"

The entire vibe turned stale; all eyes were looking at me, and even Galtweel, who had been pouring the drink, had stopped.

I coughed and spoke. "Let me rephrase: I am an envoy of the Fool. He wishes for me to visit the Giant King's Court."

Galtweel looked at me as my human figure was reflected in his single big eye as if judging me to see.

A human bystander stood up from his seat and reached for my shoulder and spoke in a taunting tone, "I haven't heard of This Fool you speak of, and you wish to meet the Giant King!!!!"

Amanises, who had been enjoying her drink, suddenly stood up, sending a jolt to the man before me.

I merely gazed at her, and she then looked at Galtweel and spoke in an intoxicated tone, "Could I get another glass?"

It seemed Amanises had used the Horror Bishop's ability to do something to that guy.

Galtweel who had been watching all of this as a spectator took out another glass from the shelf above his head and poured another drink

One of the human waiters quickly took the glass and gave it to Amanises.

Galtweel then looked at both of us and spoke, "If you truly want to meet the Giant King, then there is a way.

My brother Groselle works as the guard for the Waning Forest. While I doubt he could do anything, it should be possible to meet the king's sons, of course, only if you truly are an envoy."

Galtweel handed us a seal, which he himself used to enter the Giant King's Court, and nodded in approval.

The man, who was reluctantly looking at Amanises with a hint of fear, realizing that the giant had no issue, backed down and ordered a glass of drink.

To show my gratitude, I bowed to the giant Galtweel and asked him for some packed wine.

To which he obliged; once I had received everything, I paid my and Amanises's tab using what little money we had from Flegria Castle, which would soon run out as well

I then looked at Amanises; she stood up and now completely looked sober, with not a single hint of intoxication, and we left the tavern.

Next Stop: The Giant King Court

************************

Amanises asked me, "How did you convince him so quickly?"

I looked at her and said, "We are inside the range of the Giant King's Court. Even if you and I can't sense a direct presence, the fact that we didn't die with the way we talked is a good enough hint. Furthermore, I feel like he knew that we were demonic wolves; after all, the Twilight Giant does neighbor the darkness pathway, so there is no surprise there."

Amanises nodded and spoke, "I guess I need to improve my awareness."

I looked at her and said, "With due experience and knowledge, this will become second nature."

Amanises didn't ask any further questions.

***********************************

As we got closer to the Giant King's Court, the twilight gave a sense of dawn; the golden light, which only covered the Giant King's Court and nothing around it, was now very clear.

I spoke in a sense of awe, "This is truly a Divine Kingdom."

Amanises nodded in unison; this was certainly a very beautiful scene.

Then we reached the gate of the Giant King's court, which was guarded by two Silver Knights.

These Saints had quickly realized that we were demonic wolves, enemies of the Giants and all of the races that lived on this planet.

They looked at each other, but before they could do us any harm, a giant greeted us instead and spoke with a fierce voice, "I am the Eldest Son of the Giant King Badheil.

Tell me your reason for coming here, God of Puppets and the Goddess of Misfortune."

The 2 silver knights immediately backed off with such a declaration from the Giant King's Eldest Son.

Both Amanises and I spoke in unison: "We have a proposal for the Giant King, and while we had decided to use the proper channel, it seems that won't be necessary."

Badheil looked at the two of us; the giant doors began to move. It looked as if the sky itself were tearing apart to burn like the brilliant dawn.

We entered the Giant King's Door and were immediately brought into the presence of the Giant King and his wife, the harvest goddess Ombella.

I bowed, and so did Badheil and Amanises.

The Giant King merely raised his hand, but that alone had enough pressure that I felt my spirit body being crushed. If not for the Sefirot's similar pressure without the initial control over it, I would have been crushed by it.

The Giant King spoke in a tone fitting of a god: "Why have you come to my court?"

Amanises already had lost the strength to speak; it was only I who could due to both my level and habit of it.

With all my might as a special miracle invoker, I spoke, "My Dearest King, I bring you a proposal."

"What kind of proposal?" The king asked.

"In hunting the Phoenix Gregrace, I heard that the King was in a stalemate of war with the Phoenix Gregrace.

which had been the case for the longest time, but no longer now. My king, you are being pushed by them."

"Have you gone mad as well? A wolf? is going to tell me if I am winning or not? "The king roared.

The pressure had increased so much that Amanises seemed to have started bleeding from the eyes, and my own ear capillaries had burst open.

"Of course not, my king; I merely offer you my ability to counter the Blink and Sealing Authority that Death has gained."

This time there was no immediate response; the pressure had also decreased to only a fraction.

I continued, "My King, not only will this merit you very much but also keep your status as the True Warrior."

This time the response came not from Aurmir but from Ombella, who looked at me and spoke.

"And how can you suppress the authority of Blink and Sealing from Phoenix?"

I truly wanted to say, "A magician never reveals his secret," but now was not the time to do that.

I spoke, "My dearest Queen, the answer is simple. The Fool, my master, has the true authority over blink and position, and since Death has merely taken it by force, it does not yet belong to him. In that way, I can be of much help."

Ombella, who had been quiet the entire time, had only gotten her the answer that she wanted to hear to some extent.

She spoke with all her might: "To think there exists someone like me."

It seemed that Omebella had figured that Mr. Fool had the sefirot in his hand. "I am intrigued by you, Antigonus. Does the Wolf of Annihilation know?" further asked the queen.

I simply nodded my head to stake a negative.

Sometimes it's best to reveal certain information; most self-help books teach this for better or worse.

Aurmir, who had been intently listening to this small convo, spoke, "What do you gain from this?"

"Spoils of War, My King," I solemnly replied

The Giant King spoke with intrigue, "Does Flegrea know of this envoy?"

I replied with a sharp voice, "No, we have left 'Him,' your highness. I am here as an envoy of the Fool."

The giant king spoke in an intimidating tone: "And who is this Fool?".

"The ruler of the Spirit World."

The Giant King, who must have felt that things were beyond just being a god, nodded.

He then spoke, "There is no need to Phoenix Gregrace right away. We will wait till she is even less of herself. Yes, tell that Fool of yours to prepare a counter for the underworld; He should be able to do it."

I nodded to his affirmation. She had only made the underworld her domain and moved it to the spirit world a couple years ago.

There were still at least 10 years before the Sun God made major efforts in hunting these mutant creatures.

The Giant King asked me, "What do you plan to do now?" He had, furthermore, decreased the pressure made by his authority, and so did Ombella.

I and Evernight stood up and spoke in unison: "We plan to leave this continent in search of another continent."

I further continued, "To further regain our humanity, we also intended to live there; this should also help in preparation for that opportunity."

The Giant King stared at the two of us before speaking. "Did that Fool also tell you that secret?"

Amanises quickly figured it out; it was written all over her face.

"Yes, Your Highness." We both spoke in unison.

The Giant King then spoke, "I would like to meet that Fool of yours."

"Your Highness, Mr. Fool has an honorific name that you may recite to get his attention. As an ally, it would be best that you know it too."

The Giant King gave me permission to continue, and I gave him Mr. Fool's name.
