"Why… why would you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Why would you trust me?" she clarified while continuing to watch him closely.
"I mean… we barely know each other, so why would you trust me enough to give me access to the Archon Group? Don't you fear that I might use the information I gain from the company to advance Van Empire and push it to the top instead?"
A brief silence settled over the car before he asked evenly, "Would you do that?"
"No," Aliana admitted honestly. "But that doesn't mean I couldn't. After all, becoming number one has been my goal for as long as I can remember, so why?" she pressed again, her eyes never leaving him.
"I thought I already explained my reasoning in front of your parents," Gavriel replied calmly.
Aliana thought about it for a moment before finally asking, "So… all of this is just for the public, then? So people won't think this marriage is a sham?"
