The wolf let out a ferocious howl and charged in as well. Both of them blurred and vanished, appearing mid-air.
B spun himself, building momentum on the swing of his blades. The wolf slammed its open maw shut and its fur visibly tightened.
The tip of the blade struck it, tearing into a it a little but ultimately getting stuck. B tutted and kicked off the body of the wolf, launching himself back.
Somehow, his arm merely separated from his body, remaining attached to the wolf. The amputated arm stump squelched as it regrew into a perfectly new one.
The wolf landed as well and stared at B with hunger and defiance burning behind its eyes. The corner of its eye twitched and turned to Blake.
"Shit!" Was all Blake managed to say before the wolf lunged at him. It covered the distance between them in mere moments.
Its mouth opened and the latter raised his arms while shutting his eyes. A loud snap, undeniably from the jaw of the beasts, made him jump.
'I am not dead?' He slowly peeled open his eyes to see the beast stuck in the air... or rather, someone was lifting it with its leg.
B scowled as he held on tightly to the beast that tried vehemently to kick him off. The wolf continued snapping his jaw and Blake.
The latter staggered back, his heart pounding against his ribcage.
'That was close! I almost died.'
B spun about a fixed point and threw the beast away like a hammer.
It slammed into a building, ravaging its collapsing foundations and bringing an end to the historical building.
"Run as far and as quickly as you can." The instruction from B was simple and Blake didn't hesitate to comply. Foolishness would definitely be his demise.
He ran in the original direction they had been going in. His lungs burned as he pushed himself.
The rumble of debris made Blake turn his head in time to see the wolf rising out of it. It swayed a little as a thick, viscous black blood dripped out of the wounds on its body.
It managed to stabilize itself by shaking its large head rapidly. Its crazed, red eyes locked onto Blake's frightened own and its lips curled up in a snarl.
'Shit! I shouldn't have looked!' Blake faced the direction he was running to.
A loud howl resounded, reverberating through his muscles, making him lose his balance and crash into the ground.
His skin scraped against the ground and he winced at the burn, 'That will definitely scar.'
A loud boom shook the others buildings around him, dropping fragments off of their structure.
Tall buildings swayed slightly under the immense force.
He turned just in time to see B in the sky with bat-like wings protruding from his back. His arms were like a sword and shield.
It was a perverted angel had come to save him.
B was facing the new pile of debris that the beast slowly rose from. Its body was no longer as frightening as it had been.
It was now drenched in its own blood, looking weak and far too tired.
"I suppose it's time."
He rose his blade and pointed the tip at the wolf. Its defiant eyes locked on it and it growled.
The wolf threw its head back and opened its maw.
B's eyes widened and he rushed to slay the beast but it was too late.
All Blake saw was B pause mid-air as the beast drop dead... there was nothing else in that split second. He couldn't feel the burn of his injury, the air was sterile and even the world had gone silent.
The buildings around them all shattered under an invisible force traveling through them.
B managed to charge at him carrying him with his wings as he flew expertly through the collapsing buildings.
He swerved when he could and charged through buildings when he couldn't.
'Why the hurry?' Blake tried to understand the sweat running down B's face but couldn't.
They left the city but he continued flying as quickly as he could.
Eventually, B crashed into the ground, protecting Blake with his body. As they skidded to a stop, the world finally remained muted and distant.
B reached out and grabbed Blake's hand then the world resumed.
The smell of metal mixed with dust hit him immediately. Next was the tangy taste of blood then finally was a ravaging pain through his body.
A faint boom in the distance made him turn to the city and his breath ceased. The entire city was flattening in real time.
B wiped a little blood running down his nose, "You're lucky we got out in time... you'd be dead."
Blake registered his words. If the final attack of the beast hadn't killed him, the collapsing buildings would have.
He felt B move behind him and turned to him. "We need to continue moving. It won't be long before we get to an access point. Hopefully, we'll meet the boss there." He muttered more to himself than Blake but he understood.
