Chapter 6 - Friendship

Serena did not seek friendship lightly.

As a Martial God who had lived for thousands of years—and one who understood hunger, suffering, and restraint—she believed not all gods were worthy of companionship.

Power alone meant nothing to her. Only those who understood purpose, sacrifice, and compassion could stand beside her.

She traveled across Teyvat, not as a ruler, but as a quiet observer. Watching. Judging. Waiting.

Only a few passed her test.

When Serena met Morax, she did not speak at first. Instead, she placed a simple meal before him.

Morax understood immediately—it was not food, but a test of meaning.

He ate slowly, respectfully.

"Every grain has weight. Every life has value."

That was enough.

Serena accepted him—not because he was strong, but because he never wasted what others lacked.

They became allies bound not by contract, but by mutual understanding.

In the forests of Sumeru, Serena met Greater Lord Rukkhadevata.

Rukkhadevata was already feeding her people—not with food, but with knowledge and life itself.

Serena watched quietly as the forests flourished.

"You feed the soul," Serena said.

"And you feed the body," Rukkhadevata replied.

They smiled.

No test was needed.

From that moment, they shared a silent bond—two gods chasing the same impossible dream:

A world where nothing starves.

Serena almost dismissed Barbatos.

He seemed careless. Drunk. Unserious.

But then she saw something others missed.

He made sure the people of Mondstadt could live freely… and eat freely.

No chains. No oppression. No forced hunger.

When Serena questioned him, he simply laughed:

"Food tastes better when you're free, don't you think?"

She didn't laugh.

…but she stayed.

Because beneath the foolishness was a god who ensured no one starved under tyranny.

Unlike others, Serena approached Raiden Makoto with caution.

Makoto did not rule with fear or strict ideals—she ruled with kindness.

Serena saw how her people lived.

Peacefully. Warmly. Fed not just with food, but with care.

"You carry a heavy hunger," Makoto said softly.

For the first time—

Serena did not hide it.

Makoto became someone rare to her:

Not just an ally but someone she trusted.

Before she became the Pyro Archon, Mavuika was not a ruler.

She was a warrior.

Wild. Uncontrolled. Burning with power—but lacking direction.

Her flames devoured everything:

Enemies

Land

Even herself

Serena saw potential in her.

Serena did not teach through words alone.

She taught through experience.

Lesson 1 — Fire Must Not Devour Its Purpose

"If your flames consume everything… what will remain to protect?"

Mavuika learned restraint.

Lesson 2 — Power Is Not Hunger

Serena understood hunger better than any god. She saw it in Mavuika—not for food, but for battle, victory, recognition.

"You are not empty. You are overflowing."

That realization changed her.

Lesson 3 — A Warrior Must Choose What to Burn

Not all enemies deserved destruction.

Not all battles needed to be fought.

Serena forced Mavuika to make choices:

Save… or destroy

Protect… or conquer

Each choice shaped her into something greater than a warrior.

One day, Serena stopped training her.

No warning.

No explanation.

Mavuika, now calm, asked:

"Am I strong enough?"

Serena shook her head.

"Strength was never your problem."

She placed food in Mavuika's hands.

"You finally understand hunger."

Not the hunger to destroy—

…but the hunger to protect others from suffering.

That day—

Mavuika became worthy of being called Archon.

Mavuika always called called Serena "master", even though Serena refused.

Instead, she said:

"You are the one who taught my flames to live."

And Serena?

She simply replied:

"Then don't let your people starve."

To the world, Egeria was gentle.

A god who loved humanity so deeply…

she tried to become closer to them.

She created Oceanids.

And then—

She gave them human form.

To her, it was compassion.

To Serena—

…it was a mistake.

Serena did not see beauty in Egeria's creation.

She saw danger.

A silent, spreading danger.

"You turned water into flesh… without understanding consequence."

Oceanids were not human.

But in human form, they could:

Blend into society

Multiply

Change ecosystems

Disrupt the natural balance

To Serena, this was no different from a slow, uncontrollable spread.

Not evil.

…but irresponsible.

Their confrontation was quiet.

No war.

No destruction.

Just truth.

Egeria spoke first:

"I only wanted them to live… as humans do."

Serena's answer was cold.

"And if they replace them?"

Silence.

For the first time—

Egeria had no answer.
