Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The first meeting

Yerin quickly activated her stealth skill and entered the ominous‑looking S‑Rank gate. During that process, nobody had noticed her. 'The skill is working!', Yerin was satisfied.

Inside the gate, Yerin saw wrecked skyscrapers and a grey sky, creating an eerie atmosphere.

Boom.

A thunderous tremor terrified Yerin, making her want to go back home, to the orphanage. But Yerin thought of the poor hunters who had to be fighting strong monsters. Since Yerin had become a superior hunter, she was responsible for saving other people.

Yerin clenched her tiny fists.

'System, which skills do I have?'

The system instantly responded, showing Yerin her skills.

[Freezing Fog (SSS‑Rank): The user can wield ice and snow freely for attacking and defending. Effective for almost all monsters. In other words, this skill makes you invincible!]

[Body Strengthening (S‑Rank): Increases strength, endurance, and speed by 100%. Use this skill when you are tired!]

[Stealth (S‑Rank)]

[Currently, you only have three skills. Raise your level to gain more skills! You can do it! ^^]

After reading the explanation, Yerin created a snowstorm with ease. She could feel her body becoming one with the snow, having absolute control over her ability. Her eyes flashed blue, glowing intensely.

If anyone saw this scene, they would be scared out of their wits. A small child was standing inside a snowstorm, her eyes radiating an unreal blue light. She would definitely be mistaken for a monster in human form.

Yerin followed the thundering noise and arrived at a bloody scene. A worn‑out hunter was facing several basilisks. The hunter's face and body were covered in blood. He was staggering, disoriented, while the basilisks were watching him with greedy and hungry eyes.

[Great job! You've found your ◻◻◻◻◻ ◻◻◻◻◻◻◻ ◻◻◻◻◻ ◻◻◻◻!]

Yerin frowned. The characters were encrypted for some reason.

'System, didn't you say that he is my real family? Shouldn't you show me who he is? Don't be so secretive.'

[I am not secretive! Somehow, I cannot display the characters properly.]

[Anyway, save him quickly!]

Yerin turned to the basilisks and released ice blades that cut the basilisks down mercilessly. The basilisks collapsed, making the ground tremble.

The anonymous hunter looked at Yerin with widened eyes.

His grey eyes looked utterly confused. "A child?", he muttered. "Am I getting crazy?" "I have to evacuate all civilians…"

The hunter passed out, mumbling incoherent words.

Yerin, with worry in her heart, ran towards the hunter. 'He is bleeding so much.'

What should she do? 'System, please help me!', Yerin thought desperately. But the system remained silent, giving no response.

Yerin clutched the hunter's hands anxiously. She knew that she had to call for help but didn't have any communication tools. Tears began to swell in Yerin's purple eyes, flowing down her cheeks. She felt frustrated with herself and helpless at the same time.

'I have to save him since I am now a super strong SSS-Rank!', Yerin stood up resolutely.

Just when she thought this, the hunter's eyelids flew open. He had beautiful silver eyes that could captivate anyone at first sight.

As Yerin was entranced by those eyes, the hunter was also surprised by the sight of Yerin. He had been fighting basilisks, losing to them, and when he woke up, an adorable child with raven-black hair and mysterious purple eyes was staring at him with an awestruck expression.

He chuckled, "Now I'm even having hallucinations. As if a child would be in a dungeon."

"I am not a hallucination!", Yerin exclaimed. The hunter ran his fingers through his silver hair, "And now I'm even hallucinating voices."

"I am real, uncle!", Yerin grabbed the hunter's shoulders.

The hunter felt deep shock at the sensation of the child touching him. Next, panic kept rising inside him. "Child, what is your name? What are you doing here? Where are your parents?"

Yerin answered obediently, "My name is Yerin! I am saving you. I have no parents."

"Why should you save me? What were the people outside doing, letting you inside?"

"The uncles and aunties let me inside willingly," Yerin lied without batting her eyes.

The hunter saw through her lie instantly. "Seriously, how could those hunters not even stop a weak child from entering the gate? I need to train them from the basics, seriously. How inattentive are they that they would let a child slip in…."
