"this can't be possible! no way am accepting this, i rather be unawakened than use ice magic" john said in a loud and determined voice surprising everyone, students started talking in low whispers as a instructor walked towards john
"student john you should clam down, whatever you learn magic or not is your choice. I understand your hatred towards ice magic but i hope you will remember that you are still in school and act accordingly"
"yes sir" john said in a rough voice as he was trying to clam himself down, he had to remember that he was in school and the awakening ceremony was still going on, he slowly got down the ritural place where he was previously standing and got back to his position in the line of students.
john had just awakened which in normal cases was a thing to be happy about but here all john felt was frustration and anger or his luck...
out of every single magic present in this world the god had to fuck him over by giving him ice magic. john hated ice magic with every fiber of his being and now no matter how much of a waste it would be, he was never in this life going to use ice magic.
A few hours ago...
"john wake up"
john heard his mom calling from downstairs and mumbled in his sleep something about 5 minutes more....
time passed and 10 minutes later his mom called him again,
"John you are going to be later for school, wake up now"
john sensing the annoyance in his mom voice finally dragged himself out of bed and went straight to the bathroom to take a bath( he hated wasting his time and he was already late), he thought to himself "ahhhh why can't someone destroy our school already?" as he adjected the temperature of the water to "hot" and started washing himself. (it was summer)
after finishing his bath he walked out of the bathroom and as he wore his school uniform while still grumbling about how much he hates school, he went to the mirror and saw a black hair boy with big pink eyes staring back at him like always,
john was cute and short compared to the other boys of his age, but personally he didn't mind it at even a bit.
john went downstairs for breakfast after he was done fixing his hairs, as he sat at the dining table while greeting his older siblings, the housemaid appeared and gave him some toasted bread with jam (the only thing he ever eats for breakfast). his parents had already left for work, they both co-operated a mid-size company, always too busy to spend any time with their family.
. His big brother alex (the oldest child) had already become a healer and worked at an average guild. his sister Sofia (the middle child) on the other hand was only two years older than him and attended a normal school as she had not awakened.
john after finishing his breakfast went to the exist where the driver was already waiting for him, 10 minutes later he arrived at the school.
walking into his classroom he saw his friend jack and Alex (the only good thing about coming to school) already standing their and talking excitedly to each other. john greeted them as he went to put down his school bag on his seat. After which he walked towards his friends who were wating from him.
jack a tall and muscular boy for his age looked at john and said with a grin on his face "almost thought you were going to be late again" ,john replied with a smug expression on his face "today the day when we will finally be able to use magic, so the teachers would have cooked me if I was late today", his other friend alex around the same height as john said excitedly "i can't wait for the ritual, I hope we all get at least one attribute".
unlike alex john wasn't much excited about this whole "awakening ritual" thing since both of his parents were both unawakened and his brother had still somehow gotten the light attribute so now there were really low chances of him getting a attribute let alone the fire attribute.
after some time, the bell rang and a middle-aged teacher walked into the room "students get in a line and proceed to the basement for the ritual", almost immediately the students formed a line beaming with excitement as they walked towards the basement'
arriving at the basement john saw a very well-built and advance looking place all covered in white, it was nothing like what john had in mind. near the ritual area many groups of people from different magic school were present to recruit students who had potential for becoming a good mage.
one by one names of student were being called...john nervousness was slowly increasing by the second. on alex turn he awakened the darkness attribute (specifically mind related magic), after some time jack was called up and he awakened the light attribute (specifically protection and healing magic), because of jack getting two types of magic many scouts got interested in him.
NOTE: when someone awaken an attribute they are also shown what type of magic will they be best at and mind control comes under the darkness attribute... another thing to note is that how much talent that they have in that attribute is not shown, it basically just shows what type of magic you can do. so, there are chances that a person with some attribute may have so minor talent that it can be totally unless and via versa.
after jack, john was called up soon he dropped his blood on the round device and a blue screen.

john was seating in a corner of the classroom with a gloomy look on his face... he looked bored, his eyes were void of any emotion which did not suit his cute face, his previous carefree personality was completely lost and his friends jack and alex where nowhere to be seen.
In the background some voices could be heard talking about john "the new boy actually have the water attribute with ice magic what a pity he is so dumb that he doesn,t want to use them.
another voice followed "i heard he refused to use ice magic even once in the end during the magic exam so his previous school had no choice but to kick him out"
"dumb bastard, here we are sad for not getting any attribute while this bastard wasted the opportunity he was given."
"it is all true" john thought to himself while mindlessly staring at a maths book
