Chapter 30: Returning Home in Glory

"What else can I do?" Song Wenbo said irritably.

"Find someone. Is he the only chef? Will the kitchen stop running without him? If you really can't find anyone, just hold back his salary and force him to stay!" Zhou Xiaona's eyes flashed as she said.

Song Wenbo widened his eyes, shocked by his wife's harshness and ruthlessness.

After all, they were his own sister and brother-in-law.

Having someone like this by his pillow made his back feel a chill.

"Hmph, you're so kind-hearted, always trying to be the good guy. You're not unaware of how important May Day is." Zhou Xiaona noticed Song Wenbo's expression. "Don't look at me like that. From beginning to end, I've only been thinking about this family."

Song Wenbo's expression struggled for a moment, but he still nodded heavily.

Nothing more to say-first, recruit someone as quickly as possible.

He had joined quite a few local life groups, and immediately posted a recruitment message in the groups.

These days, as long as the salary is good enough, hiring people isn't that difficult. There are plenty of candidates everywhere. Soon he arranged for a chef who claimed to have plenty of experience to come over and cook a few trial dishes.

In the afternoon, after the kitchen had just finished being busy, Zhang Zhaohai finally had time to sit down and eat.

Outside the door, Song Wenbo and Zhou Xiaona walked in together with someone.

"Chef, sorry to trouble you to try making a few dishes."

In front of Zhang Zhaohai, Zhou Xiaona spoke. Beside her, Song Wenbo felt a little embarrassed and didn't quite dare to look Zhang Zhaohai in the eyes.

Zhang Zhaohai raised his eyelids and took a look, immediately understanding.

The couple had quickly found someone to replace him. Their speed was quite fast.

The trial cooking went extremely smoothly. The couple directly finalized an employment contract with the new chef on the spot.

"Finally settled." Song Wenbo let out a long breath of relief. Looking at his wife beside him, he walked up with a grin. "Honey, actually you really thought this through."

There was actually another thing in his heart that he could finally let go of.

That was, since someone had been hired, there was no need to withhold Zhang Zhaohai's salary to force him to stay. If something like that got out, his reputation would be ruined.

"Now you know I was right?" Zhou Xiaona rolled her eyes and said irritably.

Now that someone had been hired and the kitchen no longer relied on Zhang Zhaohai, Song Wenbo naturally didn't care whether he left or stayed.

On the eve of May Day, the first day of the holiday, it was also Zhang Zhaohai's last day at the restaurant.

"Brother-in-law, you've worked hard these past two years at the restaurant." Song Wenbo came over and exchanged a few lukewarm pleasantries, not wanting things between them to become too awkward.

After all, he and his own sister couldn't just completely cut off contact.

"Not hard at all. It's not like you didn't pay me my salary, right?" Zhang Zhaohai glanced at him and said.

Song Wenbo gave an awkward smile and turned to leave. Forget relatives-even between real brothers, it wasn't uncommon for relationships to completely break apart because of interests. Once there was a rift, it was impossible to repair it.

"Don't take it to heart," Zhou Xiaona comforted him. "Let me say something blunt. Your sister and brother-in-law's family will probably stay like this for the rest of their lives. Our family will only keep prospering. There'll never be a day when we have to rely on them. What are you worried about?"

"That's true." Song Wenbo felt relieved.

His sister's family-his sister was just a salaried worker, and his brother-in-law relied on him for wages. How much achievement could they have in the future? As for that eldest nephew of his, he heard he was working in Shanghai. Probably nothing special either.

Maybe in the future, they might even have to come begging for help from their family.

Zhang Zhaohai was the type who did his job properly no matter what. Even though today was his last day working in the kitchen, he still meticulously completed every task he was supposed to do.

When he had some free time, he didn't forget to contact his son.

Today Zhang Yang's company was on holiday. He would probably return in the afternoon.

"What time is your high-speed train?" Zhang Zhaohai called to ask.

"I didn't take the train. I bought a car," Zhang Yang said, not hiding it.

"You brat, you really don't treat yourself badly, do you? What car did you buy?" Hearing the news, Zhang Zhaohai immediately asked, curious.

"A Porsche Cayenne. I'll take you for a drive when I get back, Dad." Zhang Yang laughed.

Zhang Zhaohai slowly put down the phone.

This kid only had 3.5 million in total, and he turned around and spent more than a million on a Porsche. He really…

Damn it, he really does have his father's style from back then.

Zhang Zhaohai pinched his fingers and calculated. Out of 3.5 million, after removing the more than one million, there were still two million and something left. Buy a house, renovate it, get married…

Alright, alright. It's still enough.

Since it's already bought, so be it.

At this moment, Zhang Yang was just about to set off from the apartment.

During this May Day, Bei Wei didn't plan to go back. Her parents were working out of town, and since the holiday was only a few days long, she simply stayed in Shanghai.

Setting off from the apartment, Zhang Yang stopped outside Bei Wei's residence.

Not long after, in the distance, a dazzlingly fair-skinned figure ran over. A simple white dress fluttered in the wind-it was Bei Wei.

"Brother Zhang." Bei Wei slightly bent down and handed in a box of something. "I just made sushi this morning."

"Returning the favor-here, take this." Zhang Yang looked at the neat box of handmade sushi and smiled as he took a cake box out from the back seat.

It was from [A high-end cake brand in China known for luxury, artistic cake designs and premium pricing, operated under Holiland.], the top-tier cake brand under [A well-known Chinese bakery chain specializing in cakes, pastries, and desserts.]. Zhang Yang had ordered a [A premium decorative cake design from Black Swan, known for elaborate floral styling and luxury presentation.] cake priced at just under three thousand in advance, and early in the morning a handsome Black Swan delivery guy had brought it to his door.

The cake had an extremely high appearance value, with a pink design that perfectly satisfied a girl's romantic heart.

Holding the cake, Bei Wei lightly covered her mouth, clearly surprised and amazed.

"Want to get in the car and sit for a while?" Zhang Yang looked at Bei Wei and invited her.

Bei Wei's cheeks immediately turned slightly red. She softly hummed in agreement, quietly opened the car door, and sat inside.

From Shanghai to Yinghai City was only a few hours' drive.

Zhang Yang sped all the way and returned to his hometown, Yinghai, in the afternoon.

Driving the car, he looked at the familiar scenery outside the window. Although there were no towering skyscrapers like in Shanghai and no magnificent skyline, just the word 'hometown' was worth more than a thousand words.

"Dad, have you gone back yet?" Zhang Yang called Zhang Zhaohai while driving.

"I just finished being busy at noon and am about to head back," Zhang Zhaohai said.

"Alright then, wait for me. I'll go find you at Uncle's place," Zhang Yang said with a smile.

Everyone had a bit of a desire to show off. Driving this car to his uncle's place was also meant to give his father a bit of face.

"You're coming over?" Zhang Zhaohai raised his voice. "Alright then, I'll wait for you."

After hanging up, Zhang Yang drove the Porsche Cayenne straight toward his uncle's restaurant. About half an hour later, he arrived downstairs.

There were quite a few cars in the restaurant's parking lot. It seemed business was pretty good today.

"My uncle's restaurant is really getting on the right track." Zhang Yang got out of the car, looked at the Fengsheng Restaurant, and praised it.

He was very familiar with this restaurant, not only because his father worked here as a chef, but also because over the years whenever the family held banquets during holidays or festivals, they basically did it here.

Several private rooms and halls-he knew them like the back of his hand.
