~ Maegor Stark POV ~
~ Three-Eyed Ravens Caverns ~
"Are you an enemy of our kind?" She asked me with a trembling voice at the last question and an open vulnerability that surprised me for a moment.
"No, I am not, quite the opposite actually." I answered back straight away, and meant it. Martin hasn't revealed the final outcome of the Children of the Forest in the books yet, but I had assumed that it was going to be as close to their end in the Game of Thrones series. Something that was truly tragic for a race that was just trying to survive the coming age of man, even if it was protrayed as a sacrifice for their sin of creating the shows version of the Night's King.
On top of that, the Earthsingers, as I'll refer to them in any other tongue from now on, are powerful nature magic casters. Granted that power comes from large sacrifices, like the Breaking of the Arm of Dorne, the landmass that once connected Westeros and Essos twelve thousand years ago. The Earthsingers of the time, whose numbers had been numerous, gathered all their greenseers and sacrificed hundreds of First Men invaders to the Old Gods to destroy the Arm of Dorne and stop the invaders from crossing from Essos. The hammer of the waters resulted in the Breaking, the shattering of the Arm of Dorne into the Stepstones and the Broken Arm, separating Westeros from Essos. Unfortunately for the children, it was too late, for the First Men already had a foothold in Westeros. However, the cataclysm proved the strength of the children's power, and may have proved instrumental in bringing the First Men to agree to the terms of the Pact on the Isle of Faces. The agreement ended hostilities, and marked four thousand years of friendship between the two races.
At some point, the greenseers attempted to use the hammer of the waters, working from the Children's Tower of Moat Cailin, to break the lands of Westeros in two. However, this created the boggy Neck instead of separate landmasses. The crannogmen grew close to the children in the days when the greenseers tried to bring the hammer of the waters down upon the Neck. Despite the lack of complete separation, the bogs and swamps of the Neck have proved an effective natural defense, and the First Men-held Moat Cailin never fell during the Andal invasion of Westeros.
Either way they were only trying to protect their way of life and the weirwood forests that housed the Old Gods; the will of the planet, Planetos will, George R.R Martin's version of the Earth Mother Goddess from Earths mythology. Like the Greek goddess Gaia or the Sumerian goddess Tiamat. A planet wide consciousness of nature and the Earthsingers are its caretakers. A creation mythos of the lands and seas forming and nature's bounty given form and consciousness. A consciousness that I was a part of now as the sole Three-Eyed Raven of the weirwood network forevermore.
"As you've been told by your now silent past greenseers, I am 'the shadow that devours,' but I am also the final Three-Eyed Raven. Not only because of my never before seen power as a Greenseer, but because I am a part of the Old Gods of the Forest and Rivers, their living immortal will. And I swear upon my weirwood throne and the Old Gods that I have not devoured your kins spirits, only their collective knowledge and histories and that I am not here to end the last of the Earthsingers, but to see you thrive in the world once again. For I am of the Old Gods and they are of me." I proclaim as I finally sit down upon my weirwood throne, a pulse of power radiating off the weirwood as I took my seat.
The murmurs of the gathering in the back return as my words echo through the cavern and the weirwoods glow a stark white, the suspicion heavy in their low whispering voices drowned out by awestruck gasps.
"But word's are breezes in the wind, " I continued after a moment "and I know that actions speak louder than words ever could, even when they should. So I shall bestow upon one of you a vision of what is to come with my reign as your King, and my fulfillment of my promises that I make upon this day. Well it be you my lady? Well you take a glimpse into your new future and that of your kin under my rule?" I asked the elderly female Earthsinger who has spoken up as the representative of their race.
"Hmm, I am called 'the first snowfalls of winters' in the True Tongue that you seem to speak so fluently, or Snowylocks in the Common Tongue as a future Stark greenseer boy names me. Yet no longer as you have usurped him and the Bloodraven before and I who was before him. For I was placed in the weirwood like the others before me, yet I was ejected by the heart tree more then a decade ago. When you arrived." She said after a moment, her features hardened in concentration as she took glances to the rest of the Earthsingers who have grown silent and attentive.
With a shuddered breath, as if realizing that the only way forward is to adapt to changing of the known future end to an unknown future of survival. She straightens her hunched posture as much as her age allowed and locks her eyes on mine and says. "I know how the song was to be sung, one of a twilight for our kind, one of an end of the Earthsingers. Yet you are here and the songs melody has already changed, and I can no longer hear the end of our people's song. So I well volunteer, for I wish to finish hearing the song before I rest with the ones that came before me within the embrace of the Old Gods."
She steps forward and kneels before the throne a arms reach away, her green-gold cat slitted eyes never breaking with my heterochomic amethyst and gray.
"Show me the song of your reign, of the godswoods, of the new dawn, and the continuous of my kin. Do this and my kin shall swear to you as our Greenseer King, and we shall serve to bring about your song with devotion and loyalty."
A small relieved smile graced my lips as she spoke, I reached out with my left hand, that was indulging the young raven, and lifted my index and middle fingers. The two fingers hover above her forhead and I stare into her eyes in askance, receiving a small nod of her head I placed both fingers in the center of her forhead.
Using the Chaos Kings power and my resonance with the Old Gods through my weirwood throne and give her a vision of the future, my future.
