Chapter 55 - Chapter 9: Fuga

The domain didn't fade.

It broke.

Not like a technique ending.

Like reality finally refusing to hold its shape any longer.

A loud, fractured crack echoed through the space—

and Malevolent Shrine collapsed inward, scattering cursed energy like shattered glass.

Yuji staggered forward."…It broke?!"

Nobara coughed, waving away residual cursed pressure."…That thing was NOT supposed to just shatter!"

Megumi's eyes were locked ahead.

"…No."

In the center of the ruined space—

Mahoraga was still standing.

Not weakened.

Not destroyed.

Still there.

Yuji went silent."…It's still alive…"

Nobara's grip tightened."…Of course it is."

Megumi's voice dropped."…It adapted through the domain collapse."

Mahoraga's wheel turned once.

Slow.

Deliberate.

Like it was confirming survival.

Takeru stood still.

Watching it.

Not surprised.

Not panicked.

Just… measuring.

"…I see."

Yuji turned."…What do you mean 'I see'?!"

Takeru exhaled once.

Then raised a hand slightly.

"…Fuga."

A pause.

Yuji blinked."…Huh?"

Nobara frowned."…What does that—"

And then the air burned.

Not ignited.

Not caught fire.

It was as if heat itself had been given form and authority.

A furnace opened where no door existed.

A deep, crushing inferno erupted outward—

silent at first—

then overwhelming.

Megumi's eyes widened instantly."…That's Sukuna's technique."

Yuji:"…HE HAS MORE?!"

Inside the blaze—

Mahoraga turned.

The wheel spun rapidly.

Faster than before.

Trying to adapt to heat, pressure, cursed structure, existence itself—

But the furnace didn't behave like an attack.

It behaved like an ending.

Takeru's voice was calm.

"…Output stabilization."

The fire intensified.

Not spreading—

compressing.

Yuji shouted."…IT'S GETTING SMALLER?!"

Nobara:"…NO IT'S NOT—IT'S GETTING DENSAER!"

Megumi's expression tightened."…It's refining. It's not burning him. It's rewriting his survivability conditions."

Mahoraga's wheel slowed.

Then hesitated.

For the first time—

its adaptation didn't immediately resolve.

Yuji whispered."…Is it… stuck?"

Megumi's voice was quiet.

"…No."

"…It's being overwritten faster than it can learn."

The furnace tightened again.

Takeru stepped forward slightly.

"…Finalize."

A final surge.

The flames collapsed inward.

Not exploding—

erasing.

Mahoraga's form flickered.

The wheel cracked mid-spin.

Then—

stopped.

Silence.

Yuji stared."…Is it—"

Nobara slowly lowered her weapon."…Gone?"

Megumi didn't answer immediately.

Then—

"…No."

A pause.

His eyes narrowed.

"…It's not gone."

"…It's resolved."

Takeru exhaled slowly.

"…Confirmed."

The cursed pressure around him settled.

Not lighter.

Just finalized.

Yuji blinked."…So… did we win?"

Nobara frowned."…Or did he just delete it in a way we're not allowed to understand?"

Megumi looked at Takeru.

"…You didn't kill it."

"…You forced it into a condition where it couldn't continue existing as a problem."

Silence.

Takeru adjusted his sunglasses.

"…That is sufficient."

Yuji sighed."…That's not reassuring."

And then—

from somewhere deep in the cursed energy residue—

a faint echo returned.

Not Mahoraga.

Not fully Sukuna.

Just a whisper.

Amused.

Observing.

"…You're getting better at this."

Takeru didn't respond.

But his expression tightened slightly.

Megumi noticed immediately.

"…Sukuna?"

Takeru nodded once.

"…Yes."

Yuji swallowed."…What did he say?"

Takeru paused.

Then answered simply.

"…He is evaluating efficiency."

Nobara groaned."…That's WORSE than normal commentary."

Silence fell again.

Heavy.

Not over the fight.

But over what it implied.

Because something had just been confirmed:

Takeru wasn't just fighting with cursed techniques anymore.

He was building a system that other systems were starting to notice.
