Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Final Choice

The world felt distant.

Fading.

But one thing remained clear—

Him.

Kael.

His hands held me like I might disappear.

His eyes… no longer cold.

No longer distant.

Just… afraid.

"You're not dying," he said firmly, though his voice trembled. "I won't let you."

I gave a weak smile.

"You don't get to decide everything, Alpha…"

"Then let me decide this," he said.

Before I could react—

He pulled me closer.

And kissed me.

It wasn't gentle.

It wasn't soft.

It was everything we had been holding back.

Pain. Anger. Regret. Desire.

His lips pressed against mine like he was trying to keep me here—like I was the only thing that mattered.

For a moment…

I forgot the pain.

Forgot everything.

It was just us.

When he finally pulled back, his forehead rested against mine.

"I was wrong," he whispered. "Rejecting you was the biggest mistake of my life."

My heart clenched.

"I hated you," I admitted softly.

"I know."

"I still do… a little."

A small, broken smile touched his lips.

"I'll take that."

Silence fell between us again.

But this time…

It wasn't heavy.

It was real.

Hours later…

I woke up.

Alive.

The pain was still there, but weaker.

Kael sat beside me, his eyes locked on mine like he hadn't looked away once.

"You stayed," I said quietly.

"Always," he replied.

I studied him carefully.

This wasn't the same man who rejected me.

This one… fought for me.

Broke for me.

Chose me.

But I had changed too.

"I'm not the same girl you rejected," I said.

"I know," he said.

"And I won't be weak."

His gaze softened.

"I don't want you weak," he said. "I want you beside me."

I held his eyes.

"And if I choose not to be?"

A pause.

Then—

"Then I'll still choose you," he said.

Days later…

The pack gathered.

This time, not to watch me fall—

But to see me rise.

I stepped forward, my silver wolf power radiating through me.

"I'm not here as the girl who was rejected," I said, my voice strong.

"I'm here as who I've become."

Silence.

Respect.

Power.

I turned slightly, my eyes meeting Kael's.

"No one decides my worth again," I added.

His lips curved slightly.

"Good," he said. "Because I don't want to lead alone."

A small smile touched my face.

Not weak.

Not broken.

But something stronger.
