Jay's POV.
My steps felt slow as I walked toward the house.
The door stood right in front of me… but my mind was still stuck in the car.
"Live with me."
I closed my eyes for a second, taking a deep breath before pushing the door open.
The house was quiet. Too quiet.
I stepped inside, placing my bag down, but I couldn't move further. My heart was still racing, my thoughts tangled.
"…What was that…" I whispered to myself.
A live-in relationship.
With Keifer.
My cheeks warmed slightly, and I quickly shook my head. "Focus, Jay…"
It wasn't that I didn't like the idea…
I did.
And that scared me more.
I walked into the living room and sat down slowly, staring at nothing.
Kuya.
The thought hit me instantly.
My fingers tightened.
"…He'll never agree," I muttered.
Kuya Angelo wasn't someone who took things lightly. He was strict, protective… and terrifying when it came to me.
How was I even supposed to say this?
"Kuya, I'm moving in with Keifer."
I almost laughed nervously just imagining his reaction.
"Jay."
I froze.
My head snapped up.
Kuya Angelo stood there, leaning against the wall, his sharp eyes already on me.
"You're late."
"I… had exams," I replied, trying to sound normal.
His gaze didn't leave me. "…Something's on your mind."
Of course he noticed.
"It's nothing," I said quickly.
Silence.
He straightened slightly, walking toward me. Each step felt heavy.
"Jay." His voice dropped a little. "Don't lie."
I looked away, my heart pounding again.
"I'm not…"
"Then look at me."
I slowly met his eyes.
And that was it. I couldn't speak.
"…What happened?" he asked, calmer this time, but still intense.
I hesitated.
Should I tell him?
Not now.
"I'm just tired," I whispered.
He watched me for a long second.
Then finally—
"…Go rest."
I blinked, surprised.
He turned away, but before leaving, he added quietly,
"We'll talk later."
My breath caught.
Later.
That didn't sound good.
I leaned back against the couch, covering my face with my hands.
"What am I going to do…"
Keifer's POV..
I didn't move the car for a while after she left.
My hands rested on the steering wheel, my eyes fixed ahead—but my mind was somewhere else.
On her.
Her expression.
The shock in her eyes.
I exhaled slowly, leaning my head back.
"…Too sudden."
I knew that.
But I meant every word.
This wasn't just about wanting her close.
It was about keeping her safe.
Things were already moving behind the scenes… and I didn't like it.
Not one bit.
If she stayed away from me—
No.
I clenched my jaw.
"I'm not letting anything happen to her again."
My grip on the wheel tightened.
I finally started the car, the engine humming to life.
Her hesitation didn't bother me.
Her answer didn't matter right now.
Because one thing was clear—
I wasn't stepping back.
Not this time..
