Phoenix
I tensed at Sean's question, a low sound forming in my chest before I could stop it. Ares was not remotely interested in allowing another male near her in her current state, and I was not entirely sure I disagreed with him.
I watched Sean's shoulders drop slightly, a quiet sadness moving across his face. I felt a pang of something close to guilt about it. He was her friend, genuinely and without question. But Ares was running close to the surface and Nova was unconscious and fragile and the combination of those two things was making him almost impossible to reason with.
I exhaled and pushed him back as much as I could. "If you do not approach the bed and you look at her only as her friend, you may come in."
