I growled a yes and Kate moved quickly to set up the bed. I placed Nova down with as much care as I could manage and her arms and legs fell loosely onto the mattress, out of the tight ball she had been curled into in my arms. I could not look away from her. If I did I was afraid she would somehow not be there when I looked back.
Kate removed the shirt from her body and the snarl that came out of me was involuntary. I was seeing everything now in the full light of the room and the anger that moved through me was not something I could easily contain.
