Her amber eyes widened into twin circles of liquid gold as the ambient purple light of the room completely died, extinguished by the destruction of the machine's core. In its place, a terrifying, subterranean crimson glow began to leak through the widening cracks in the stone. It was a thick, bleeding color, illuminating the dust-filled air with a sickening, violent hue that made the ancient masonry look like raw flesh.
"Lucien! Stay with me!" she screamed over the sudden, deafening roar that exploded through the cavern. The sound was so massive it bypassed the ears, vibrating directly inside her skull and turning her balance to water.
