Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Come, Let Me See

Filled with all sorts of wonderful fantasies about the future, Syl even felt that the ravings in her head weren't all that annoying anymore.

However, after getting used to the ravings, it actually felt manageable; compared to the mental pollution of the terrifying clown, these holy medicine ravings were simply child's play.

Now, what she needed to do was probably to complete the Ritual just as Sharon had said, right?

But what was this Ritual?

The Church seemed to interpret these ravings as a test from the goddess of hope.

Thinking about it carefully, it seemed that the selfish and indifferent ravings in her mind were indeed contrary to the principles of the Church.

So, was her method of digesting the holy medicine now to do the opposite of what the ravings in her mind suggested?

If it told her not to complete a system mission, she would insist on doing it; if it didn't want her to help that girl, she would choose to help regardless.

If that was the case, would that count as resisting the mental pollution of the holy medicine?

That seemed to be the only explanation.

Regardless, it wouldn't be too late to try after the situation stabilized.

She also didn't know if completing these Rituals in her other body and then returning to the saint's body would count as having finished the digestion.

Since she possessed the same spirit, that probably counted as completion, right?

"Yes, as long as the Host completes it, the negative ravings will disappear."

The system provided an explanation in a very thoughtful and timely manner.

She didn't know if it was just her imagination, but Syl always felt the system had become much more obedient.

Its AI was quite advanced.

Next, having nothing to do, Syl began to check her attributes and two cards.

"Name: Sil·Saint"

"Profession: Church of the Goddess of Hope · Saint (Purple)"

"Rank: lamb · First Saint Rank (I) ⅓"

"Strength: 11"

"Constitution: 18"

"Inspiration: 29"

"Agility: 12"

"Charisma: 32"

"Skills: [Divine Art: Basic Elemental Control] [Hand of Redemption] [Divine Art: Self-Sacrifice]"

"Card Pool: [terrifying clown] [mysterious physician]"

"Draw Count: 0"

"Overall Evaluation: Things are looking up"

Drinking just one bottle of magic potion had doubled the change to Syl's constitution, and her other attributes had also increased slightly.

She wondered what new skills or improvements to her physical fitness she would gain after drinking the other two bottles and consolidating her First Saint Rank.

Through a night of adjustment and saving a person, the compatibility of Syl's mysterious physician card had already risen from 0% to 20%.

As for the terrifying clown card, it had reached 50%. It seemed the promotion mission wasn't far off; she needed to collect other types of holy medicine before then to level up the terrifying clown.

If the process for other medicines was the same, it should be like the Church of the Goddess of Hope—three bottles per stage.

Although she thought about collecting them, Syl had no clue how to go about collecting other holy medicines.

In short, she would wait until things settled down after some time, and when she went out to investigate, she would collect them along the way.

"System, show me the skill descriptions." Since the ravings didn't have much of an impact on her, Syl began to think about studying her new skills.

The system didn't say anything, but simply projected the skill descriptions directly in front of Syl.

"[Hand of Redemption]: As a [lamb] of the First Saint Rank, your hands are covered in divine power. By gently stroking the target, you can dispel negative emotions and curses from the hearts of the lost, and heal some minor injuries."

"[Divine Art: Self-Sacrifice]: As a [lamb] of the First Saint Rank, you can use this divine art. Within a medium distance, you and the target will be connected by divine power, causing the target's total attributes to increase dynamically (the stronger the opponent, the weaker the effect), and you will bear all damage for them. Healing received by you will also be fed back to the target."

Clearly, to facilitate Syl's understanding, the system described the divine arts directly as game skills.

And these skills...

Honestly speaking, if Syl met a teammate who had these skills, she would definitely love them to death.

But the one who had these skills was herself.

Although they were prefixed with the words "Divine Art," that couldn't hide the fact that they were ultimate support skills.

Who would want to take all the damage for a teammate! Are you crazy!? Letting a healer take the damage!? Healers feel pain too!

Syl angrily punched the quilt with her fist, making a "poof" sound.

Being a healer was one thing, but the skills were so... no, they were so righteous, so incredibly holy, that Syl didn't know if she dared to use them.

Link Self-Sacrifice to a high-ranking person? If the shockwave swept by, the big shot might not die, but she would end up turning into ash from bearing the damage for him.

Link Self-Sacrifice to a low-ranking person? She might as well go in herself!

The more Syl thought about it, the more useless it felt. Pouting, she slid down from the pillow and burrowed into the quilt.

When encountering difficulties, sleep.

She wouldn't be angry when she woke up.

Perhaps because the bed was very soft and comfortable, Syl had just comfortably narrowed her eyes before falling asleep.

When it was time for dinner, she was awakened by Sigma, who had walked into the room.

"Sister Syl, it is time for dinner," Sigma said, looking at the sleepy-eyed Syl, her face slightly flushed. "Or should I bring it up for Sister Syl?"

"Oh, no need," Syl shook her head. Suddenly remembering something, she asked, "By the way, where are my clothes..."

Syl pointed to the thin nightgown she was wearing.

"They are... they have all been moved into the wardrobe." As if she could finally escape from here, Sigma quickly trotted over to the wardrobe and took out a set of clothes for Syl.

"This is what His Holiness the Pope said was for Sister Syl."

After placing the white nun's habit on Syl's bed, Sigma lowered her head and said, "I... I will wait for Sister Syl outside."

Just as Sigma was about to turn and run away, Syl called out to her: "Hey, wait, come here, Sigma."

"What is it..." Sigma said hesitatingly as she walked to the side of Syl's bed.

"I feel like you're in a really bad mood right now," Syl smiled as she looked at Sigma, extending her devilish... Hand of Redemption towards her. "Come, let me see."

Syl clearly wanted to use Sigma to test out her new skill; it was a healing skill, after all.

Before Sigma could react, Syl had already touched Sigma's cheek.

"Mmm-hmm~" Watching the faint light appear on her hand, Syl nodded with satisfaction.

The previous skills hadn't given Syl any real sense of reality, but this time, the holy light on her hand was truly invoked by herself. She could even feel the warmth in her right hand, as well as the constantly increasing mental pollution in her mind.

"Whew~ It seems I can't use it for too long..." Syl withdrew her hand, looked at her slender, fair right hand with satisfaction, and nodded.

Great! Although it was just a healing spell, she had finally used a skill that could glow!

Syl looked up at Sigma: "Sigma, how do you feel now... Uh, Sigma?"
