Cherreads

Chapter 17 - 16

I suppose if I'm going to live in this time, I need to know if there's anything left in the family vault, and also if I have somewhere to live. Hogwarts and the surrounding area were supposed to have belonged to my family for generations, so I need to see if that's still the case.

If I have to start from scratch, I think I'll have to go hunting in the Forbidden Forest. If I remember correctly, there's a whole colony of giant spiders there, courtesy of the Hogwarts gamekeeper, and if so, I think I could get some Galleons from them, since their venom and other parts are used in potions, and their silk is used for making clothes.

But if I want to go hunting, I need to get a wand since both my staff and walking stick are lost, and I don't have any spares left. All I have left is the dagger Uncle Godric gave me... speaking of that dagger, I think he told me it was made of goblin steel, just like his sword or something. I don't remember exactly what he said since I wasn't paying much attention because I was more interested in the dagger... but if that's the case, it means it gets stronger from what it absorbs... and if I want to strengthen it, I think it would be good to use some strong poison... and what better than basilisk venom, which has no known cure, and it just so happens there's a basilisk corpse under the castle... I'll just have to be very careful with the dagger once it absorbs the poison; I don't want to die from a scratch with my own weapon.

I also think I'll have to be a student since there are many things I don't know about this era... I just hope they don't put me with the first-years; that would be so embarrassing. I'll have to see if I can catch up with the courses of the kids my age... hmmm, if I manage to catch up, I think I might end up in the same year as Harry and Hermione. If so, I hope I can become their friend. At least I want to be friends with them and the Weasley twins.

With my emotions calmed thanks to Occlumency, more rested after a short nap, and with a vague idea of what I might do in the future, my stomach started to rumble since I haven't had breakfast yet... I wonder if house-elves are still part of the Ravenclaw family or if they stopped being so when Mom and Helena died...

Are there any Ravenclaw house-elves in this castle?

After I spoke, there was a clicking sound, indicating that an elf had appeared, and right in front of my bed, a very old house-elf appeared, looking at me with his large, teary eyes as he said,

"Blinky is happy to be able to serve a member of the Ravenclaw family again. Blinky always knew that one day they would return to the castle."

"Hello Blinky, I'm Selene Revenclaw. Tell me... are you the only one still connected to the Revenclaw family, or are there more elves? If so, could you tell me where they are and if they are healthy?

" Blinky is very happy that Mistress Selene cares about the health of us elves. Blinky feels very fortunate to serve such a kind mistress. Blinky wants to tell the mistress that all the elves in the castle still serve the Revenclaw family, and there are others at her other house as well. All the elves are healthy. Blinky apologizes on behalf of the other elves since not all of them came when they were summoned, but Blinky came representing everyone since there isn't enough space for all the elves to come and see the mistress without being in the way. If the mistress prefers, everyone will come to see her.

"Thank you, Blinky. You don't all need to come. I'll go meet you later. For now, please make me some porridge and a glass of apple juice. Also, bring me some meat for Artemis."

After I placed my order, Blinky disappeared, and a few minutes later, both my breakfast and Artemis's were ready.

Artemis had been very attached to me since I woke up. I don't know how being petrified was for her, but it seemed to affect her a lot, since she was attached to me before, but not this much. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get her to leave the room, so I had no choice but to shrink her back to the size she was when we first made the contract so I could keep her on my shoulder, as she followed me everywhere.

It also took some convincing to get Madam Pomfrey to let me leave the room and walk around a bit, since I was feeling better.

I didn't encounter many students as I walked through the castle corridors, as it seemed they were all in the Great Hall since it was midday and most students were eating.

Madam Pomfrey told me she needed to speak with the Headmaster to see what could be done for me in the meantime. It seemed the Headmaster was also in the Great Hall, and she was going to accompany me, but some students arrived who had been victims of some prank that caused them to break out in huge pimples all over their faces.

Harry and Hermione also arrived with those students to see Ron, who was still in the hospital wing. Since Madam Pomfrey wouldn't let me go alone, she asked Harry to accompany me to find the Headmaster, so the two of us walked through the castle corridors in silence, broken only by the occasional noise Artemis made.

"She looks smaller," I said.

When Harry spoke, I didn't hear him well because he was speaking softly, so I turned to look at him, which for some reason made him blush. I thought it was very cute to see him like that, and I smiled at him a little before asking,

"Sorry, I didn't hear you properly. Could you repeat that?"

It wasn't my intention, but I think he was even more embarrassed. Even so, he answered me in a clearer voice, pointing to Artemis

. "I said she looked smaller, I mean your eagle. "

I made Artemis perch on my arm as I stroked her.

"Her name is Artemis. I used a little of my magic to make her this size so I could keep her with me, since she doesn't seem to want to leave me.

" "She's very pretty."

"Would you like to pet her? She's very tame; she only bites people who bother me."

Harry and I started chatting about our birds. He even told me how he got Hedwig and promised to introduce me to her.

As we approached the Great Hall, we ran into more students, and I think I caught the attention of almost all of them. I'm not sure if it was because of my clothes, since I was still wearing my training clothes, or because of Artemis on my shoulder. There were only a few people who stared at Harry.

One of the people who stared at Harry was a little redhead who wouldn't take her eyes off him, and I'm not sure if Harry knew her or not since he didn't seem to notice her. When we passed her, she looked at me as if I'd taken her teddy bear or something. It was the first time I'd ever felt that kind of stare, and I'm sure that if looks could kill, I'd be chatting and having tea with Goddess D right now.

The good thing was that I escaped her creepy gaze when we got to the Great Hall... or at least that's what I thought.
