Chapter 1 - The Weight Loss Problem

At the break of an early dawn, faint light struggled to enter a small, empty room.

The space was simple—almost lifeless.

A single bed stood on the right side, its worn sheets loosely draped. In the far left corner, a few scattered clothes were piled without care.

And on the bed…

Lay Katsuro Riku.

Sleeping lazily. Breathing heavily. Completely unaware of what was about to happen.

Then—

A small figure appeared in midair.

Floating.

A boy—no older than fifteen.

Green hair. Black eyes. A blue crop top paired with oversized blue-and-white trousers tied with rope at the sides.

His name was Kiko.

"Ding, ding, ding~"

"Katsuro, wakey wakey," Kiko said cheerfully, smiling as if this were the most normal thing in the world.

Katsuro groaned, barely opening his eyes.

"Kiko… it's still early. It's dark outside. I just got here yesterday… now what?" he muttered, his voice thick with laziness.

Kiko's smile widened.

"It's time for your first task. Hope you're ready… because here it comes."

Katsuro rolled his head to the side, unimpressed.

"And what exactly is the task you have for this fat fool?" he said dryly.

Kiko raised one finger.

"Your first task is simple—lose 50 kilograms within one month."

Silence.

Then—

"What?!" Katsuro shot up slightly, his face twisting in disbelief. "How am I supposed to do that? I can't even walk four steps without dying!"

"You'll have to figure that out," Kiko replied casually. "If you fail… you'll face the penalty."

He paused.

"You don't want to know what it is. Trust me."

And just like that—

He disappeared.

"Kiko, wait—I—"

Gone.

Katsuro stared at the empty air for a moment… before letting out a small smirk and dropping back onto the bed.

"…How did I even end up here in the first place?"

He sighed.

"You probably want to know too, huh…?"

---

It all started like any normal day.

I was playing my game.

As always.

I'm an introvert. A hardcore gamer. Ironically, I have one of the highest viewer counts across social media in my town… and yet, no one knows who I am.

I barely go outside.

Maybe five times a month.

Only for food… and beer.

And sometimes hospital checkups.

Low blood pressure.

Yeah. Not exactly the healthiest life.

Then came that day.

I ran out of beer.

And I needed it.

So I threw on my hoodie, covered my face with a mask, and stepped outside.

Got what I needed.

Simple.

But on my way back…

Truck-kun was waiting.

Like it had been planned.

The next thing I knew—

I woke up in a white, empty space.

No walls. No sound. Just… nothing.

I thought I was dead.

Turns out—I was right.

That's when Kiko appeared.

He introduced himself as a system personnel.

Said I died in the accident..

He said he brought me there because he needed my help—to set a script back on track and become a hero of this world.

And in return?

He promised to send me back.

Alive.

Safe.

With extra cash.

Easy peasy.

…Of course I agreed.

Without asking questions.

Big mistake.

The next thing I knew—

I was thrown into a fantasy world.

A world filled with knights, demons, dwarves, elves, beastmen, heroes, dungeons, magic, and humans with all kinds of power.

But out of all things…

Reincarnated as…

A fat.

Lazy.

Ugly.

Orphan.

Farmer.

A guy who eats like the world is ending tomorrow… but does zero work.

Not rich.

Not talented.

Just… useless.

And to make it worse?

He died from suffocation.

From overeating.

"…What a pathetic body I ended up with."

And now—

I'm stuck here.

Forced to lose weight I never even gained myself.

Or face a penalty I don't even want to imagine.

Katsuro clenched his fist slightly.

"I guess I don't have a choice…"

He looked down at his body.

"I can't even move properly… so how the hell am I supposed to lose weight?"

He closed his eyes briefly.

"Think, Katsuro… think…"

---

"Aye, Kiko…"

He called out weakly.

For a moment—

Nothing.

Then—

"What is it now?" Kiko's voice echoed, slightly annoyed. "I was busy watching my favorite TV show, you know."

Katsuro blinked.

"Wait… TV shows? Systems watch TV?"

Kiko folded his arms, frowning.

"You fool. We systems have our own world. We live like you humans. Schools, workplaces, families… everything."

"…Oh."

Katsuro paused.

"Huh… I see."

Then—

"…Wait, why did I call you again?"

Kiko sighed.

"You're hopeless."

Katsuro snapped his fingers.

"Right. You mentioned something yesterday… about someone working nearby? From an orphanage in the next village?"

"Yes. I did," Kiko replied.

"And she's been the one bringing me food?"

"Yes, yes."

"So… when is she coming?"

Kiko thought for a moment.

"According to my report, she comes four times a week—Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday."

He smirked.

"And today is Saturday."

Katsuro frowned.

"How am I supposed to know that? I just got here yesterday. There's not even a calendar here."

"…Fair point."

Kiko reached into the air and pulled out a small, round object.

"Here. Use this."

Katsuro took it.

"…What is it?"

"A system interface device. Open it."

Katsuro hesitated, then tapped it.

A glowing screen appeared instantly.

"…Whoa."

"You can check your status, weight loss progress, combat skills, rank… time, date… everything."

Katsuro stared at it, impressed.

"…Not bad."

Kiko turned away.

"And one more thing."

He glanced back.

"Don't call me after 5 AM, I will come to you when am less busy got that."

Katsuro blinked.

"…Huh?"

"Got it?"

"…Yeah. I got it."

Kiko disappeared again.

Leaving Katsuro alone.

Once more.

He looked at the glowing screen in his hand.

Then at his body.

Then back at the ceiling.

"…Guess this is really happening."

A slow breath escaped his lips.

"…From useless trash…"

His eyes sharpened slightly.

"…to something better."

Or at least—

That's what he hoped.
