The door to the chamber opens slowly. There was no servant announcement to know who was coming in. The entire room still silent, Lorelei looks at the servants as they immediately kneel without knowing who was even coming in.
"Do they know something I don't?"
The door finally opens, Lorelei saw a man with dark robes on him, he had minimal adornment on him. His presence changed the atmosphere of the entire room, his eyes looking sharp and observant as he scanned the room.
Lorelei looks at the man coming into the room, he looks very familiar.
The sound of the servants in the room breaks the silence, "We greet the Emperor of the Sun….. long may you reign".
Lorelei looks towards the man coming her way and shakes, "He came… he is here… he finally came to see our son."
The air in the room was tense as nobody spoke again. There was only stillness.
Lorelei studies the emperor as he is coming in her direction. She looks at him with a curious eye, wanting to find a sense of familiarity with him.
The Emperor looked straight at her with no warmth in his eyes, he looked at her with caution, as if he wanted to confirm something. Then his gaze shifts from her to the child sleeping in the baby cot.
He moves towards the cot slowly, and with heavy steps.
Nobody spoke as he moved towards where Lorelei is standing and the baby cot. Lorelei's breathing becomes more steady. As he steps closer to them, each step he takes is controlled, measured.
His footsteps echoed slightly against the floor. As he approached her. She can feel the weight of who he is. He can decide the life and death of her son if he is displeased.
"Is he here to finally grant my son protection, or expose him to more danger?" Lorelei can't help but think to herself.
The child in the cot makes a small sound, as if to acknowledge the presence of his father. This breaks the silence in the room.
This also turns the Emperor's attention to the cot. "I see you have given birth already."
Lorelei looked at him, she thought to herself, "You just stated the obvious question." but as the Emperor she has to give him an answer.
" Yes Your Majesty, I delivered the baby yesterday."
The Emperor was shocked with the way she responded to him. She didn't respond like her previous self. He expected her to plead for mercy for herself and the child, or show some emotions like anger for abandoning her.
He steps closer to the baby cot, his gaze rests gently on the baby in the cot. He gently observes the baby quietly. At the same time, Lorelei was looking at him very closely.
She wants to be prepared for any sudden movement from the Emperor.
The Emperor paused slightly as he looked at the baby in the cot, his hand tightened a little. There was a flicker in his eyes.
Lorelei notices his reactions towards the baby. "So he does care at least a little, that's better than not caring at all."
He looks at the child a little bit longer as if he wants to confirm something, before he shifts his gaze towards her.
The Emperor finally speaks, slowly and carefully. "The child…. Is he mine?"
Lorelei was so shocked by the question the Emperor asked. "What does he mean by is the child his… did the original owner sleep with someone else apart from the emperor."
" He doubts the paternity of the child…. Or perhaps he has a reason to." Lorelei started panicking within.
The tension in the air grew more intense by the statement, the servants in the room were more shocked by the statement the emperor made.
"There is a lot I still don't understand about the relationship between the original owner and the emperor, that I need to understand , and understand fast." Lorelei continued to think to herself as she still stared at the Emperor in disbelief.
Lorelei quickly regains her composure, as she stares at the emperor to give him a response.
