After reading the letter, the girl put it away into her pocket and returned to working like nothing happened.
But within her, the anger was simmering.
Even the tavern patrons noticed the change in her and knew not to get on her nerves.
That day in the tavern was extremely peaceful.
Not a single fight broke out even though there were tables where mortal enemies were sitting opposing each other.
And all that was caused by a simple shift in the mood of the young girl serving the drinks.
When evening came and the last customer left, the girl went, hung her apron on the wall, and went to find the owner of the tavern.
Originally, the tavern was owned by a middle‑aged couple, but the man died on a hunt, so the lady was left alone to take care of it.
She was a nice woman, and the girl really liked her.
"Auntie..." she entered the lady's office.
"I have something to tell you."
"What is it, little one?" In the tavern, no one knew the girl's name, and everyone, including the regular customers, got used to calling her little one.
"A letter came to me... I have to leave to the Capital," the girl spoke truthfully, though she didn't state the content of the letter.
The lady knew better than to ask the girl what was in the letter.
Since she first met the girl, she had shown clear aversion to the Capital City, so if she had to go there so suddenly, it had to be serious.
"So you will stop working here?" the lady sighed.
She got very much used to having the girl around.
Not only was she very helpful, even her presence was soothing.
The lady started viewing her like her daughter.
"When are you leaving?" she asked.
The girl didn't even have to think about the answer.
"I have to be there in a month, so ideally, I should leave now. But that's probably impossible, so I'll depart tomorrow at dawn."
The lady just nodded, knowing how long the journey to the Capital was for those who didn't possess powers that let them travel faster.
And as far as she knew, the girl in front of her didn't possess any power.
"I'll prepare some food for you so you don't starve on your journey. And you should also take some money with you in case something happened."
The lady really started acting like a mother, considering everything that the girl should take with her.
"Will you have somewhere to stay in the Capital? Will someone take care of you?"
The girl smiled slightly when she saw the lady scurry around, gathering some things and thinking out loud.
"Auntie, don't worry about me. I have everything taken care of."
Though the lady greatly worried about the girl, she knew not to stick her nose where it didn't belong.
So, since the girl said she needn't worry about her, the lady knew to stop concerning herself with it.
Well, she would always concern herself with it, since she already viewed the girl as her daughter, but she would keep her concerns to herself.
So, after talking with the lady for a while, the girl went up to the tavern's second floor to a room the lady was letting her stay in.
That was probably the last time she would be sleeping there.
The girl changed into some comfortable clothes before getting into the bed.
Lying there with her gaze towards the ceiling, her anger from the letter she received resurfaced.
It took her great effort to get somewhat of a normal life.
She did all within her power to stay away from the Capital City and the people there.
And then, the Academy of Magic, the place she was trying to avoid the most, actually called her in.
And they actually used the Emperor to put pressure on her.
Oh, that enraged her.
She hated that.
Still, the girl knew getting angry was pointless.
If it was just the Academy of Magic, she could fight back with the Power of Death and Extinction that they feared so much.
But if she got accused of treason, things would be different.
She would have to disappear from the Empire and go elsewhere, but that would be greatly troublesome.
Also, even leaving the Empire wouldn't guarantee her safety.
As far as she knew, the Emperor and the Royal family had close connection with the High Council of Mages, which had the authority to hunt anyone down anywhere in the world.
They weren't tied down to any country.
Actually, the fact that the High Council of Mages was connected to the Emperor was a secret that no one knew, but the girl was aware of many such things.
If she spilled even a single one, it would cause chaos.
And if she sold it to an information guild, they wouldn't believe her.
But if she somehow convinced them to trust her, the reward she would get from it would be great.
But she wouldn't spill the secrets.
Because if she did, she would also have to eventually expose her source, and that would...
That would get her in great trouble.
Because no one would be happy to hear that the world they live in is merely a fiction written in pages for others to read.
And also, nobody would be happy to hear that within such a world, there was a person who had read all the pages written about the world.
Well, but that was the case for the girl.
She used to live in the society of the 21st century.
And every once in a while, in her boredom, she would write fantasies.
At first it was just in her boredom, then it was a part‑time job, and in the end, she ended up being a full‑fledged author.
And as an author, she ended up researching quite a few things, so she had knowledge about a few things others would find fairly strange.
Well, but the girl died in her mid‑twenties.
Funnily, she didn't even remember how she died.
She remembered all about her life except two things: the moment of her death and her name.
Those two were blank spots in her memories.
But what the girl didn't forget were the books she wrote.
So when she woke up as a five‑year‑old in a stranger world, it didn't take her long to realize that the world was familiar.
She was in one of her books.
She liked the book, so she didn't mind being pulled into it, but she did dislike who she became.
It wasn't an important character, but one that was killed by the Male Lead's friend.
It wasn't really plot‑relevant for the main characters, but it did affect the friend greatly.
Well, and since the girl didn't even remember her death, she didn't want to die again.
So, she decided to avoid the guy.
So, in the body of a five‑year‑old, the girl started moving around the world, trying to find a way to leave the Capital and live away from the plot of the book.
But in the first few days of her new life, she realized something that wasn't mentioned in the book.
The girl that got killed in the book by the male lead's friend possessed the Power of Death and Extinction.
And that had its own downsides.
For example, those possessing the power could not have names.
If they came up with a name for themselves and told someone, the person would forget it.
If they tried to write it, the letters would get distorted.
And even they themselves would eventually forget it.
So, the girl couldn't introduce herself to anyone.
She became a nameless being in the world of her own creation.
