Chapter 11 - Leaving

Jay-Jay's POV

Breakfast turned out to be… surprisingly nice. 🍳

There I was, sitting at the kitchen table in Kiefer's oversized hoodie while his two brothers argued about who got the bigger pancake.

"Keiren, stop stealing mine!" Keigan snapped, holding his plate away.

"You already had three!" Keiren shot back with a pout.

I giggled into my juice. "You two are literally mini versions of Kiefer — chaotic, loud, and dramatic." 😆

Kiefer glanced at me from across the table. "You talk like you've known me for years."

"Oh, I don't need years," I shot back. "A day's enough." 💅

Keiren laughed so hard he almost spilled his milk. "I like her!" he said happily.

Keigan nodded. "Yeah, she's funny. You should keep her around, Kiefer."

Kiefer rolled his eyes. "She's not a pet, Keigan."

"I mean, she could be your girlfriend," Keiren said innocently.

I almost choked on my toast 😳. "Woah now—slow down there, Cupid!"

Kiefer leaned back with that trademark smirk. "Told you, she talks too much even sober."

"Correction," I said, crossing my arms. "I slay even sober." 😌✨

The boys cracked up again. It was chaos — happy chaos.

For the first time since transferring, I didn't feel like "the new girl."

After breakfast, I helped wash the dishes (even though Kiefer said I didn't have to). The morning sun streamed through the window, warm on my face. For a few seconds, it actually felt… peaceful.

Then Keigan asked, totally out of nowhere, "So Jay, are you coming back?"

I blinked. "Back where?"

He smiled shyly. "Here. You're fun."

Something about that made me grin. "Maybe. If your brother promises not to tease me next time."

Kiefer smirked as he leaned against the counter. "No promises."

"Figures," I said, grabbing my bag. "Thanks for letting me crash here… I guess."

As I walked to the door, he followed me. "Try not to get kicked out of school for calling people roosters again."

I groaned. "Ugh, you're never letting that go, are you?"

He grinned. "Not a chance."

I stepped outside, hoodie still draped over me, his scent lingering faintly. The air was cool, the morning bright, and my heart weirdly light 💭.

"See you tomorrow, Jay," Kiefer called out.

I turned, smirking. "Yeah. Try not to miss me too much, Candyboy." 😉🍭

And maybe — just maybe — I caught him smiling.
