Stephanie's Point of View
I stood in the dimly lit hallway, watching the maid's blatant agitation as suspicion gnawed at my mind and filled my heart with a vague terror. In that critical, tension-filled moment, the shadows at the end of the corridor suddenly shifted. I saw them approaching together, their footsteps echoing through the space: Grandpa Victor, Alex with his usual poise, and Cedric with his overwhelming presence.
I took a step back involuntarily, looking at their faces with dread and anxiety. "Where were you?" I asked, my voice fluttering, its tone almost fading away.
Alex adjusted the jacket of his elegant suit coldly, looking at me with his calm, smooth, expressionless voice. "Didn't you tell me that you were having dinner at your friend Kyra's house and wouldn't be back early?"
